I have not seen any other "Spezial" razors yet (so, this may be a rare breed). Heft is on the heavy side (~twice that of a similar sized blade) and the edge amazingly sharp and smooth
Congratulations on such a sweet razor at a good price. She's a good looker, and I like a heavy blade personally.
And thanks for making SOTD such a friendly and hospitable place with all your comments Robert, we all appreciate it.

I got a BBS shave with no irritation after 3 passes. I wouldn't say she's perfect, but its my best effort yet with a wedge.
I like it, that Bengall has a tonne of character.

Cute dog Rene, I'm sure he and your daughter will be best friends for years.
Sounds like that razor shaves as good as it looks, very nice.

    Prep: Hot Shower
    Razor: Texas Shumate
    Brush: Omega Boar
    Cream: C.O. Bigelow
    AS: Clubman Bay Rum
Finish: Pinaud Lime Sec, Firehouse Wacky Tacky

Absolutely love this combination of cream, AS, and Finish. Three passes rendered a CBS shave. Didn't really have time for a Hollywood shave this morning but hey, sometimes you gotta stop and smell the roses. In this case they smelled like bay rum and lime

Post Week of July 17 SOTD - Wednesday

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Brush: 24mm Thäter Silvertip Badger (Olive Wood handle)
    Razor: 6/8" J.R. Torrey Frameback
Strop: 35/65 (Torolf linen/Ambrose Horse Hide Clásico leather)
Überlather: Institut Karité Shave Creme + Institut Karité Shave Soap + Glycerin
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose Petal, no alcohol)
    Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer
After Shave Splash: Floïd Italian Amber AS
    Cologne: Creed "Original Santal" EdT
Results: Some time ago, I had decided to sell this Torrey, but I must confess that I have more of an emotional attachment to her than I had originally thought. Despite the fact that she was misbehaving at times and a PITA on the stones, she's definitely a keeper. I finally found her ideal sweet spot and she has become an exceptional shaver since. Last night, I took her to my leather/CrOx strop for a couple of laps and this morning, her edge was more than ready for action. The Institut Karité uber was a great complement to the Torrey. Together, they performed marvelously. CBS and super smooooooooth for the face and now, I am ready for action.

    Have a SPECTACULAR Wednesday guys.

    Wednesday 7/20/11

    A. Feist Luna Deluxe 6/8 (in honor of Apollo 11 landing)
    Semogue 1305
    Prairie Creations Mayan Magic ss
    Thayers Cucumber WH w/ aloe
    444 a/s balm
    Eau Sauvage Edt

Great lather from the Mayan Magic combined with the Lunawerk blade equals one terrific shave. It's hard to believe that 42 years ago I was glued to the TV with my parents watching a man take one giant leap for mankind. So much has changed...and today will be better than yesterday.
