+1 The 1912 gives me a closer shave than a straight, if I didn't enjoy shaving with straights as much as I do then I would mostly use SE!

I picked up some soaps from a fellow on the B&B that he purchased from Etsy.com. I've been wanting to try the Madame Scodioli brand shaving soaps for awhile but was hesitant because I wondered whether they could contend with the classics we use.

I must say I was quite pleased. My "Fiji Mermaid" soap has a wonderful smell of the ocean and it lathered as well as any soap I have used. I am still enjoying its aroma on my cheeks! At $8/bar its worth the price of admission. The soap is pretty soft. I was able to squeeze it into one of my tin containers and I used rubber cement to attach the label.

Here's a pic of the lather I generated without much effort:

    Default SOTD 07.21.2011

    Gentlemen,

I've been under a fairly heavy project at work, and haven't posted to SRP in a few months. I'm happy to say that I've recently rejoined the land of the living, and have had ample opportunity to catch my breath and relax. Here's this week's contribution to the SOTD...

I finished, yesterday, to clean up this razor I bought in september 2010.

The blade were out of the scales for cleaning and polishing. Scales were polished. Then I repined. After honing she shaves like a charm.

    Have a great day!

    Antoni

I also have the 'Balsamic water' after shave. This one in a sense reminds me of Thayers' witch hazel. Quite moisturizing for an after shave as well. Overall Myrsol products are highly recommended, if one has a chance of trying one or more.
Thank you Konstantinos...They do have quite the range. Where did you get yours. I see Giftsandcare has it, but shipping is a nightmare.

Nice lather Tim. Never heard of the soap, but sounds wonderful. And I see you pulled out the good ol' Otto Deutsch. Great choice

Post Week of July 17 SOTD - Thursday

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Brush: 26mm Saville Row 3326 Silvertip Badger
Maxterpiece: 11/16" Wapienica, Near Wedge, French Point (w/ G10 Jade Ghost scales)
Strop: 40/65 (Torolf linen/Ambrose Horse Hide Clásico leather)
Überlather: NancyBoy "Replenishing" Shave Creme + Cella Crema de Barba Shave Soap + Glycerin
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose Petal, no alcohol)
    Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer
After Shave Splash: Spanish Floïd AS
    Cologne: Spanish Floïd EdT
Results: I don't get around to using this Wapi all that often, but when I do, she certainly makes for a marvelous treat and she never disappoints. Furthermore, I don't know why, but I have seldom seen them featured in forums or even talked about in discussions...and that is a shame. I believe them to be amongst some of the most amazing shavers, especially given the fact that they were originally designed as surgical instruments. Equally amazing are the NancyBoy creme and Cella soaps. The NB was one of the first shave cremes I came across in my wetshaving journey and immediately fell in love with. If one gets past the "name", which may be a marketing faux pas in most wetshaving circles, the NB will surely give most big name cremes a run for their money. It is a fantastic creme and coupled with the Cella, she produced an amazingly rich and slick überlather. Needless to say, the pre-shave prep was absolutely an enjoyable and, may I dare say, (almost) orgasmic experience. The 24 hr growth was wiped clean in 3 effortless passes, each systematically better than the last, until I was left with such a clean and smooth face that would make any baby jealous .

Have a SPECTACULAR Wednesday guys. Busy day ahead for me. See you guys back tonight.

    Robert!
Those scales ROCK! I love the blended & semi transparent look of the spacer through the scales!

BTW I think its now essential that we see some pics of your collection. You've admitted that you have a "problem" the next step is taking all the skeletons out of the closet!

If you feel that you should reduce your collection in order to protect your sanity I'll bear the weight and take the above razor and your blonde badger brush (Because I care about out you that much!)

It was GiftsandCare.com, Robert. I understand the shipping issue, I have been reading over at B&B for years on items being shipped to the U.S. from the Iberian peninsula, long shipping time plus customs, etc. So I feel your concern. For us here in Europe it is better, although not necessarily very cheap with respect to p&p. My take is that shipping costs are what they are and not much can be done about it no matter where one's location may be. Don't forget that with most vendors here in Europe we do not have this "free shipping over $XX" mentality, like you do in CONUS - that's an important benefit to me.

My sister came to Chicago a week back, stayed there for 4 days. Had I known, I would have alerted you guys in case you wanted me to bring some shaving supplies over. Next time when it will be my turn to come over I'll keep it in mind though.
