It is good to be back, although with the amazing razors that are constantly in this thread it makes resisting RAD very hard.

Looks like I needed more than a shave and a hair cut to coax the better half out for a night on the town, oh well.

Great shaves this week; as for today... yard work and being grubby, no shave needed... yet.

I'm throwing in my hat on Saturday, because I have a special shave coming up for Sunday!

Friday nights shave was really sweet!!

I had 2 razors I had to test the edges on, my Friodur which was needing some attention and my ancient Reynolds full wedge restore that I had yet to have a shave with since recieving it from Douglas Cutlery.

Pre: Shower, conditioner and Olive Oil rub (first pass only).
Razors: Reynold 5/8 full wedge in custom Micarta, JA Henckles Friodur 4/8 and my Weishi DE
Uber: Speik + TOBS Sandalwood (I've retired my Georgetown scuttle in favor of my large lather bowl)
Post: Alum + Humphrey's Lilac Witch Hazel
AS: I just recieved my new order from Ogallala Bay Rum, so tonight is Bay Rum Heaven Night: Sandalwood + Limes and Peppercorn
    EdT: OBR spray

Results: The Reynolds did fantastic. I did the whole right side with it, it did a fine job. Angles are really important with this wedge. An off angle resulted in nothing being removed, get the angle right and it was as smooth as glass and twice as sharp. It cleaned up that side in no time flat.

Then came the friodur. I had worked this razor over prior to this shave. Before she had a slight drag to her, and she left a lot of razor burn in her wake. This time however, was totally different. She wiped away stubble like it was just part of the lather. No burn, no nicks, just a great shave. The left side matched with the right side.

Just a plain darn good shave... Very pleased. I never even picked up the DE. I don't care what anyone may say, a good Straight, with the right technique is just impossible to beat for closeness and comfort. I'm gonna keep my DE's but I have at least proven to myself that the Straight is just a better way to go, if you have the proper techniques.

    Have a great weekend brothers!!

    Thumbs up

Razor: Henkotsu gold size 2 & Dovo Bismark
    Strop: Tony Miller Tri-Strop
    Brush: Franks Finest Badger
Soap: Top Secret lanolized shaving cream ~ This stuff is just sooo good!
    ~SRD scuttle~
    After Shave: Aquavelva

Well I had to give a final pass with the Dovo as my skills are just not there yet with the Kamisori style razor. The tip bit me gently a couple of times on a down stoke on my neck. Its so damn sharp, thanks Glen, that I didn't even notice till it started to bleed. Beautiful shave though and the TS cream is something everyone needs to try.

First Saturday off in what seems like forever, but realistically 3 months. Felt great to spend the day with the kids and take them to the park on what is an unusually warm late-October day. Almost 70 degrees today!

Little mishap with the Red IMP last night after work. It was so sharp that while making a WTG pass to the right of my lip I removed a thin layer of skin about 1cm in diameter.. No pain but 3 hours later the blood finally stopped. Guess I'm off for a few days.. LOL Oh well. It'll be a good reason to grow out until Wed!!!
