Thanked: 1072Location: Coffs Harbour Australia
Strop: MickR's Roo Hide
Brush: Comoy Badger
Uber: CarrieM's Black Raspberry Vanilla + MWF + Glycerin
Razor: Royal Invicta 6/8very relaxing
Toner: Thayer's Original
Balm: C.O. Bigelow Mentha
A/S: Old Spice
For 20 mins tonight I managed to block out all the craziness that comes with a family of 6, and have a very focused, relaxing Zen shave.
I followed Robert's example from last week and tried the Black Raspberry Vanilla/MWF Uber and as expected it was superb.
All the ingredients worked together to make a FANTASTIC shave tonight. 2 passes and a couple of touch-ups and to use Rene's term, I'm sticky smooth, and feeling good on Sunday night.
Thanks for all the great posts and pics boys

Good morning friends!
Shave prep: Face wash
Brush: Haryali badger
Soap: Crabtree & Evelyn, Sandalwood
Scuttle: Robert Becker large
Razor: Fredrick Reynolds, 5/8 hollow ground spike point in zebrawood scales
Strop: nun2sharp's hanging leather strop
After Shave Splash: Home made sandalwood splash
Notes: First shave with this razor, I finished the restore a while ago but it took me a while to hone it. There's a piece of the original horn scales used as wedge. Manufactured pre 1891. It shaves great, possibly sharper than it's ever been. Smooth and comfortable BBS.
Have a lovely week Gentlemen!

Last nights shave.
Warm Shower
Burt's Bees rubbed into the whiskers
Warm oil
Custom badger
Dirty Bird Scuttle
Fromm, 5/8 full hollow
Beau Brummel 5/8 full hollow
Filarmonica, DT13,
Razorock Aluminum
Thayer's Lavender witch hazel
Vaseline from men
I spent the afternoon yesterday working on the three razor. I had the from for a few weeks and it needed a bevel, the other two I wanted to try to get them shaving to my liking. It took some time to get the bevel set on the Fromm. The 1K was slow going but eventually it started popping hair. Then I did the 4K,8K,12K, .25diamond, Crox and Strop.
As most say the only true test, is a shave test. I had a few days of growth on my face. The whiskers were at the point where they give any razor blade a run for the money. After the wrestling match with the Fromm's bevel I was very surprised that it did a great job cutting through the whiskers. I cannot say the same for the other two, I will have to do a bevel on them today as I did not like the shave at all.
I finished the shave with the Fromm.
I think a faster 1K is in order as I spent quite some time with the Fromm on the 1K. Hope everyone enjoys their da thisy.
All this just to shave!!

Thanked: 1072Beautiful creation Max, and love that brush too.
Awesome new addition Rene. You up early Sunday or just up late Saturday night??
Stunning razor Bela, I love Buddel's work.
I never get a perfect BBS finish on that area under the chin. It seems to be the most sensitive skin on my face down there so I dont push it.
I get off easy, the wife wants me to look after the 4 kids while she goes and watches it on her own.

It's great to see the return of the Smoking Men Tom
Great shave Grant & Fantastic photo, this one really stands out!
Is this the first sign of HAD I hear the Chosera 1K's are nice. That's what Lynn was using when I was over at his place. He said that it cuts quickly, yet doesn't leave as deep of scratches as the Norton.
Carl- As to getting BBS on the chin, it can be done, but it takes a while to get the techniques down. Also, I've started to realize that this area of my face can tell me the difference between an edge that is good and great. A good edge with take the whiskers off just fine, but not BBS (you can't see them but you can feel them); a GREAT edge will take them off and it will be BBS. Specifically the hair under my lower lip has become my "Test shave" indicator YMMV. I normally don't push for the BBS in this area though as Grant mentioned, the skin in this area is very sensitive. More times than not, if I'm not getting good results here, It's back to the hones (give your technique a chance to develop on the chin area though, you'll be amazed what angles work here).

Nice razor!!! Where did you get it? I've been wearing Aramis for 25 years. Classic scent and as you state, keeps SWMBO Happy.
Congrats Rene.....No call, no text, I'm going to have to drive up and talk to you about this. Gorgeous razor!!
Use it in good health my friend.
Yes, you can get a very smooth shave on the chin. Keeping the proper angle of the blade and figuring which way to attack the whiskers from is a bit more challenging, but you'll get there soon enough.
Enjoy the day.Last edited by Mvcrash; 11-27-2011 at 11:44 AM.
