Post Week of November 27 SOTD - Sunday

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Brush: 30mm Morris & Forndran, 2-band Blonde Badger
Maxterpiece: 8/8" Wade & Butcher "The Celebrated", Extra Hollow Ground, Spike Point (w/ Black Paper Micarta scales + Bone Linen Micarta wedge)
Strop: 0/55 laps (Tony Miller Heirloom Horsehide)
Soapreme: Jack Black "Macademia/Soy" Shave Creme + Czech & Speake №88 Shave Soap + Glycerin
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose, no alcohol)
After Shave/Cologne Splash: Floïd Italian Amber
After Shave Balm: RazoRock AS Wax
Results: This W&B is one of my absolute favorite shavers. It's hard to explain, but there's just something about the steel of this (or any) W&B that just feels right on my face. Not only do they take an exceptional edge, but they "deliver" a shave that is superior when compared to most other blades. This Extra Hollow is no exception. And by "deliver", I mean from both the tangible and intangible perspectives. The tangible metrics being defined as what the blade does to you (i.e., the physical characteristics of the blade such as sharpness, hardness of steel, etc), while the intangibles are how your skin reacts to it during AND after the shave (i.e., the feel of the steel on skin, the ease by which the razor cuts the whiskers, etc). With this W&B, the "delivery" was not only perfect, it also remained largely independent of the lather - i.e., as long as I get a decent lather from any soap/creme or a combination thereof, this blade will give me a consistently fabulous shave. To me, the fact that a razor does not need to be compensated to perform speaks volumes about the quality. Having said that, the prep today was just down right amazing anyway (not that this W&B would have cared). I love the C&S 88. I am WBS (Wade & Butcher Smooth) and ready for a beautiful Sunday .

    Have an EXTRAORDINARY Sunday gentlemen.

I spent the afternoon yesterday working on the three razor. I had the from for a few weeks and it needed a bevel, the other two I wanted to try to get them shaving to my liking. It took some time to get the bevel set on the Fromm. The 1K was slow going but eventually it started popping hair. Then I did the 4K,8K,12K, .25diamond, Crox and Strop.

As most say the only true test, is a shave test. I had a few days of growth on my face. The whiskers were at the point where they give any razor blade a run for the money. After the wrestling match with the Fromm's bevel I was very surprised that it did a great job cutting through the whiskers. I cannot say the same for the other two, I will have to do a bevel on them today as I did not like the shave at all.
I finished the shave with the Fromm.

I think a faster 1K is in order as I spent quite some time with the Fromm on the 1K. Hope everyone enjoys their da thisy.

    All this just to shave!!

    Sunday

    Razor: Merkur Futur
    Blade: Astra (5)
    Brush: Men-u Bristle (boar)
    Soap: Cool Water style
    A/S: Aqua Velva Ice Sport

Very nice shave. I was tired, so I didn't think using a straight razor was a good idea. The soap and brush are new acquisitions. I'm not sure who made the soap, but I love the scent and the lather was superb (though the brush could use a little more breaking in). The Ice Sport was a nice complement to the soap's scent and provided a good start to the day.

I love sandalwood, such a nice masculine fragrance. C&E also makes great products, no doubt about that. I certainly am a soap man, rather than creams, I'll order more C&E when I run out.

Morning 2 mile run with the dog followed by a nice relaxing shave. SWMBO wanted something to use today so the pic is post 3 pass and then prior to her using it. Plenty of lather to go around!! Forgot to post hers but it was a Gillette slim with 7 O'clock blade. Off to cook and enjoy the football day! Have a great Sun all!
