    Friday

    JM Schmid & Son 6/8
    Omega Boar brush
    Institut Karite soap
    Old Spice

Most excellent shave with the JM Schmid topped off with Old Spice for my last workday of the year! (working in academia has its advantages)

    Default Friday

    Good Evening,

I missed a couple of shaves as I was traveling. I arrived in London late last night.

I went shopping with my daughter today, I managed to get a couple of presents for myself. Some Eucris EDT from Trumper's, some TOBS collection No 74 Victorian Lime After Shave and some TOBS Sandalwood Shave Cream. And I finally caught up with my SRD Thater brush. Once again a very big thank you to Max, great Job.

I am going out this evening with some old friends that I haven't seen for a couple of years, so a nice shave was in order.

    Prep: Shower
    Strop: TI Paddle Strop, 30,70
    Brush: SRD Thater (Fan)
    Cream: TOBS, Sandalwood
    Razor: Dovo Master's
AS: TOBS Collection No 74, Victorian Lime.

What can I say about the shave? Nice and smooth in 2 passes, but did a 3rd just for fun. Superlative products, I lathered in a bowl, (which is fairly unusual, for me ) The brush was simply sublime, best I've ever used.
The smell of the Sandalwood intoxicating and the Victorian Lime was, well simply gorgeous. (I had to buy a second bottle of the Victorian Lime for my daughter as she liked the smell so much)

    Have a Great Evening

And like a razor, if one is not careful, they can cut deeply and leave a nasty scar also!!

    Default 2011.12.15 Evening Shave

    Pre: Hot shower
    Soap: SRD Unscented (first use)
    Brush: Unknown in Pure Badger
Razor: Boker Edelweiss 5/8 fresh from SRD
Mug: SRD Classic Mug (can't wait to get the Bulldog in the mail Monday)
Post: Cold water splash and a bit of Gillette gel, Nuetrogena moisturizer, and a margarita once the Wife gets home

Notes: I'm really loving the evening shave, not to mention how much I look forward to putting a piece of steel to my face. Absorbing the information here daily, and then going home to practice what I've learned. This was my 6th shave, and the first I am completely satisfied with. The lather from the soap was beautiful, and the Edelweiss mowed them down. WTG and XTG (with a bit of ATG for the throat), and life is good.

Nice shaving partners. Not as beautiful as a vintage Wade & Butcher, but they're certainly comely.

    Can they cook?

    Fri, Dec 16
    Brush: TGN Silvertip
    Soap/Creme: TOBS avacado
    Razor: Gillette old style
    Blade: Yellow pack Gillette
    Pre: none (as a test)
    Post: Lilac vegetal splash.
    Hair Groom: jeris w/ oil
Result: I read an old shaving manual recently which suggested that if you don't soften your beard before you shave, that you will get a better shave. The theory was that the hairs would be stiff and brittle and thus more accessible and easier to cut. It seemed a bit like the whole cold water shaving thing, which has worked for some. My results were poor, but I was in a rush and my lather suffered for it, so I can't say for certain. I am certain that it was a very poor shave, and, that now that winter has finally hit, and with it, splashes are just too drying for me.
