From This Morning
My 3rd SOTD post!
Prep: Shower, Neutrogina face scrub, Floid Sandolar pre-shave gel
Soap: Proraso White aloe/green tea cream soap
Brush Van Der Hagen Natural Boar
Razors: 1st pass J.R.Torrey 9/16 half hollow notch 12 laps on 2line8" Swaty
2nd pass John Pritzlaff HW Co. 326 11/16 full hollow french point
Styptic: Proraso blood stop gel, alum block
Post: Proraso White pre/post cream, Cold water rinse, Floid Blue AS
I had not shaved since Saturday morning before my best friends wedding. The John Prittzlaff gave me a very close no nick shave on its maiden voyage of my face so I planned to keep it in reserve just in case for today. Although I had broken out a bit I was eager to try the J.R.Torrey after touching up on the Swaty with water and considering its 9/16 it does fine on longer growth but not so well on stubble. I managed a comfortable first pass before it started pulling on stubble as predicted. reapplying of preshave gel, switching to the John Pritslaff I made a second pass with a little nick on the corner of my top lip and made a 3rd pass to finish with a nick on the right of my chin. Another first using the Floid Blue AS I found quite different.

Thanked: 485Wednesday
This morning I decided on an Überlather of Crabtree and Evelyn Nomad and Faulding’s ‘Shave’ cream. The ‘Shave’ is what I used to use in the pre-straight era, and it’s an OK cream, cheap (2 bucks fifty) and has a nice scent. The Überlather worked out OK, but not spectacular. Maybe I’m not concentrating enough? Sounds strange that one needs to concentrate on making a lather, but there it is...
The Klas Törnblom performed spectacularly again. I can’t fault this razor these days, it takes an edge and keeps an edge.
I think I’m starting to get ‘stuck’ on a combo. Proraso Pre-shave, the W&B or Törnblom, Pinaud Clubman all feature consistently. It’ll be interesting to see what cream is my ‘go to’ cream. I’m leaning towards Musgo Real, but the C O Bigalow rocked up from the U S of A tonight. I’ll have more to say about that tomorrow, but even though it’s made my Proraso, I think saying it’s Proraso in a tube is simplifying it a bit; it’s a different scent (to me), possibly not as strong as Proraso soap/cream. Also, the O Melhor is probably winging its way over the Celtic sea from the Green Isle from whence it was procured. Sometimes I DO get a little guilty about contributing to global warming by keeping all those freight companies in business shipping my creams to me from far afield, but it does make for good after dinner or after BBQ conversation. I find I can slip the ‘I shave with a straight razor’ comment in almost anywhere these days...
Razor: Klas Törnblom Pre Shave: Proraso Überlather: Crabtree and Evelyn Nomad/Faulding’s ‘Shave’/Glycerin ASB: None After Shave: Pinaud Clubman and Burberry ‘The Beat’ Eau de Toilette

Thanked: 485Thanks
Hi guys,
I’m not going to respond to each of your comments about Bailey, as I don’t want to ‘bog down’ the thread. I hope it’s enough to say I really do appreciate them; some of them brought a tear to my eye and I found some to be so very, very deep and insightful.
