Well, since it's your first shave we'll let this one go, but don't make a habbit of it!

    Second straight shave

    Silver King 5/8 hollow-ground spike
    Dovo leather/linnen hanging strop
    SCS New Spice soap
    Vulfix 2197 best badger
    Alum
    QED ASC

This razor doesn't seem as sharp as the one I used yesterday and had a hard time making it through the heavier whiskers around the chin. Had to do a little clean up with an injector, but pretty happy - no nicks or blood.

    Second shave.

    Dovo 5/8
    Savile Row 208
    Taylor's Almond
    Old Spice AS

Well, not a great shave, but I definitely felt more comfortable with the razor in may hand today - and I remembered to put on a pair of boxers before the shave. Oh, and just for you x, no DE.

Default First W&B Barber's Use shave

Had not shaved more than a week so I thought it's time to bring the big guns

    hot shower
    Moss scuttle
    Rooney Super
    Tabac soap
    said W&B
    Tony Miller strop
    Trumper's alum block
CO Bigelow Rose Water skin tonic
    L'O CADE AS Balm

First time I use a Moss scuttle - this thing is pretty small (the big one) - I am used to making lather for the neighborhood and it was all over the place. Moreover, heat retention is not much better than my previous setup (and I even floated it in the sink). Anyway, it's a good product, I just think I expected something more...

W&B fought the beard well, but was not stellar. Since I honed it, I shouldn't complain. Right side was smooth and easy on cheeks but I got some red spots on the neck. Then left side it pulled a bit more, but no redness on neck... It's probably something to do with angles, not the honing. Very very good results on my chin, and overall results were very good. The few red spots were my only gripe.

I think my 8/8 Fili honed by me shaves better. Maybe the second W&B shave will be better. Even if it stays at this level, I should state I am unwilling to pass this W&B along as I just plain like it, and it feels nice in my hand... I don't think I'll be selling it. Right now it's probably 8+ / 9. Needs to get to 9+ for my top of the tops circle. One thing - my foam was a bit dry / soap-rich - maybe this can explain the inferior (comparatively) razor performance.

Red spots were gone in about 45 min but I won't shave tonight, most likely. As if I ever shave 2 days in a row

    Cheers
    Ivo

I've got the large scuttle as well, and I find that preheating it really helps. I fill the top and bottom of mine while my brush soaks, then when I'm ready to make lather I empty it and refill the bottom.

Michael, I even had it in the shower with me to get all the heat I could (without boiling water). It was full with hot water (both top and bottom) before I emptied it and floated it in the sink.

I did not mean to say it didn't work, I just meant it works just about as well as what I used before, which was a $3 or so bowl with a lid from a gormet store. I used to float it too, and with the lif on (or partially on, for a bigger brush) it keeps the brush warmer; it is also larger for more lather...

but if I had to pick the best one, it's one of this special handmade clay baby pots we have for cooking ethnic specialties. Each holds one portion and it's twice as heavy as the scuttle (same size otherwise) and absobs heat much better without the double bottom design... warmest lather I have had with same starting water... but my wife is not very excited about me using them for shaving
