Found this razor at a farm sale last week and brought it home to clean up. While cleaning it up, I found on the backside of the tang that it was from a barber supply about 20 miles east of where I live. The next day I went back to the farm where I bought it and asked where it came from. They told me that it was their Grandmother's who ran a barber shop ou of the house for the farm hands that worked there. They were happy that the razor was bought by someone who was going to use it. i was happy to get a razor with a known and wonderful history. A treasured piece for me for sure. Honed it up and I must say that it is a wonderful shaver, and will continue to be for a long time.

Tuesday

Day had broken cold and grey, exceedingly cold and grey. I just wanted to slip that little piece of Jack London’s ‘To Build a Fire’ in there, though my ‘cold and grey’ is nothing compared to the book’s ‘cold and grey’. It certainly wasn’t 50 degrees below as in the book. But it WAS grey. Yet, as I descended from the range, the sun made interesting playthings for itself with the rocks and the world brightened considerably.

The shave was a very good one, very close and smooth. I must have left too much soaking water in with the Edwin Jagger soap, so the lather was way too frothy and ‘much’. The Bay Rum and Evaflor ‘Whisky’ went together so well they must have been made for each other, like me and my wife. I put that in there just in case she snoops, it’s always best to err on the side of caution.

Cufflinks of the day were red, glass, and vintage. I paid 8 dollars for these. I left them unpolished from day one.

Oh, BTW, the song I played on the way to work AFTER the second disc of Led Zepp’s ‘Physical Graffiti’ album was Ben Harper’s ‘Serve Your Soul from the album ‘Both Sides of the Gun’. I then played it again. And again. And then on the way home, and shall play it now.

Yeah. 'Need' razors. I need one of those French ones, what are they? The ones with the three crosses? They're pretty cool. Either that or if a Schneider ever made a razor, I need that...

Jabonman Mandarin/Vetiver | Thäter Bulb | Wacker Mod.2 | Lucido | Vetiver de Carven

This was one of those zen shaves. I really hit the sweetspot today with the Jabonman and oodles of lather piled up on my face. The beauty of that is that the scent of this soap is really intoxicating to me. I found myself just relaxing as I shaved, which is a great thing to a point. The tension flowed out of my hands and arms allowing me to use a very light touch, and I ended up being catfish belly smooth in record time! The Lucido wasn't really needed, because the Jabonman leaves the face so moisturized, but I used it anyway. And the Carven vetiver was simply the icing on the cake today. The bright citrusy opening quickly gives way to an earthy vetiver root. I am in heaven!

Now if only I could figure out how to fix SWMBO's virus infested computer...
