Cool Sometimes it is good to take a step back..

Some of you might have seen this thread

    http://straightrazorpalace.com/show-...nice-gift.html

If you read that you would have seen that my intention was to go to the Shaptons which is my norm for these NY steel razors, but thinking about it an extra day and looking at the edge I decided to try a different approach.. It looked like the razor had never been used so I decided to to what the shave would be like if I kept it like somebody would have buying the razor brand new 80-90 years ago..
I took out my Swaty and lathered it up, did exactly 10 laps and used 1 layer of tape to make sure I concentrated on the edge and not the bevel...

The shave as you can see from the pic was also very simple and Cheap

Strop = Illinois #827 50/100 Linen - Leather NO pastes at all $40 shipped (GIYF)
Brush = Burma Shave new from Walmart $5.95
Soap = Williams new from Walmart $.98
    A/S = Old Spice Walmart $8.95

Shave = 1 pass WTG, touchup with a clear water pass

    Results = CCS

Can it get better with a run throught the Shaptons ??? Yes
But I could shave this edge for the rest of my life without any problems at all

    Prep: Hot shower
Brush: New Forest 2201 knot in a barbers handle
    Razor: Three Crosses
    Soap: Nannys French Lavender
    AS: Paco Rabanne, Ultraviolet
    Strops: Neil Miller
    Result: Very, very clean

This razor's one of my top ones and it prob has the most delicate blade of them all (and she sings a mysterious song when stropped):

    Tuesday
    Prep: Quick Shower/ Proraso pre
    Brush: AOS Badger
    Scuttle: G5
    Soap: Cade
    Razor: Palmer #41
    Post: Proraso AS/ Nivea
Result: Quick and smooth, But just cannot seem to get this razor dialed in. It is a comfortable shave, but not as sharp as my other 19 razors. Called in to work early, maybe I'll get lucky and sneak out early as well...

I always wondered how those LeCroix shaved Mikael, now I know! If you have one, they must be good! (Officially on the "want" list now...LOL)

I think you mean the 'need' list.

Your razor looks a little triangular in shape, could that be the issue?
