Thanked: 485Tuesday
My manager at work asked me the other day if I’d heard of ‘Emotional Intelligence’. I said ‘yes’, even though I hadn’t actually, but I’d heard of all the ‘other intelligences’ they seem to have these days. She said she’d get me some ‘readings’ if I liked. Do you think that she’s saying I don’t have any emotional intelligence? Maybe I'm an emotional moron? If I was, you'd tell me, wouldn't you? I might be able to tap into some sort of special funding...
This morning’s shave with the De Pews was nice. I think the edge can still be better, but it’s quite nice as it is. The Clubman was a perfect scent for a warm spring day. Today’s temp was about 25, which is the warmest we’ve had for ages. I think in heaven it’s always going to be spring for me…
Listened to The Brian Jonestown Massacre (the album ‘Love’) followed by extremely loud old style Gospel music on the way to work. Was upset to see a dead possum, a dead kangaroo and a dead cat on the way. Was happy to see bright yellow fields of yellow canola. I hope you’re all having a nice week.

Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

I had three days growth when I woke up this morning and headed into the den. I knew I wanted to go top shelf to get rid of that mess, so I reached for the Dovo 55, and the Windsor soap. Beard prep was my usual these days - wash the face then apply hair conditioner to the whiskers while I shower. After stropping up the Dovo on my Torolf horsehide/linen, I set to work making the lather. The Windsor scent immediately filled the den with its rich, earthy citrus scent. I took an extra long time building the lather on my face this morning because I was so intoxicated with the fragrance, and because the Thäter brush felt so good massaging the lather into the thick mess of beard. With a face full of lather, I set to work with the Dovo. It swept away the facial hair as if nothing had been there. Two passes, plus touch ups later, I was clean and smooth! A quick splash of the Lucido confirmed that the Dovo did its job efficiently as there was not the slightest sting, just a cooling mentholated moisture. The pièce de résistance was the vintage Chanel Antæus, which has got to be one of the best leather scents ever made for a man! What a morning!
He saw a lawyer killing a viper on a dunghill hard by his own stable; And the Devil smiled, for it put him in mind of Cain and his brother Abel.

Prep: Hot Shower Proraso pre-post creme
Brush: Thater 4125-2 26mm bulb
Scuttle: Georgetown Pottery G-5
Soap:Pannacrema 'Casablanca'
Razor: Kropp 11/16"
Post: Lagerfeld Classic AS/ Nivea Lotion unscented
Result: There are times when you wake up in the morning and it's great to be alive. Then there are times when you wake up in the morning and it's great to be a man! Yup, this would be one of those times. Got to try two new things today for the second time. The first was the soap, the second was the razor. We'll start with the razor. Kropp razors have gotten good reviews from the members on this site and this one is a great shaver and completely lived up to the spin. First shave with it was slightly harsh, took it to a light slurry on the Naniwa 12k and honed to clear water, stropped and shaved, close. 10 laps on the pasted strop and Voila! Shaving nivana. Now, the soap! I received this soap from our very own Legal Beagle. Thank You, Bill! After using this soap twice, I must say that it has risen to the top tier of my rotation. It is a soft Italian soap and lathers up beautifully. A few swirls on the puck loaded the Thater and it feels like a cloud of creamy goodness on your face! This is as you would expect, but the real surprises come when you get a whiff of the scent and the moisturizing effect on your skin after the shave!
The scent is subtle but definitely there. Rich amber with a slightly floral note, i must find this in a bottle because it is pure intoxication! This is the top soap for moisturizing! That includes MWF! Thought it would pair well with the Lagerfeld classic and wow 3 passes and off to a long week at work (short on days, long on hours...)

Thanked: 1185Prep: Brisk 30 minute run, morning pipe, lukewarm shower
Razor: Boker Red Injun 102
Brush: Semogue 2000
Soap: Arko Shavestick
AS: Nivea Double Action Balm, Skin Bracer
Finish: Clubman
Result: I seldom do 3 pass shaves any more (especially on work days) but I just felt like it this morning and the results were fantastic. I should point out that this razor is the founder of the feast, my first "real" straight razor. The last time I shaved with it, the edge seemed to be getting a bit muddy. Today, a couple hundred laps on horsehide straightened that right up and delivered a great shave.
