Thanked: 154Sunday Morning - A New Day
Took a hot shower, then lathered up with some William's Mug soap and nice warm water. Let it soak while I fetched my Dovo #41 and gave it a half-dozen strokes across my palm. Lathered again and shaved for first time in over two weeks with a straight razor. It was ok, but the blade wasn't very smooth. Perhaps some time on the canvas and leather might bring it back. If not then it'll be the first time to the stone in the two years that I've owned this razor.
I lathered a third time, and finished up with an across-the-grain pass with an orange-handled Bic Sensitive disposable.. (I've really been enjoying the fresh clean feeling I get from the Williams lately.) Rubbed three drops of AoS unscented aftershave balm on my once again smooth mug and headed out to the barber shop to get my ten-week over due mop of hair cleaned up. It's a new day.

Busy weekend with all 7 kids at home! Thanks to Max for the unbelievable W&B restore. It's a HUGE chopper and was an absolute pleasure to use. The chairs are 1905 & 1930 Kokens that I had Jeff Kimble in Atlanta restore for me. They are true works of art! Jeff is to barber chairs what Max is to razors. I picked them up last weekend in Atlanta and finally got enough muscle over to the house today to move them into the bedroom -- how wonderful is my wife? After a long day, I finally got some "me" time. Turned on the towel warmer, then jumped in a hot shower, then Proraso pre/hot towel in the 1905 chair, then lather/hot towel, then 3 pass shave. Result = BBS and revitalized. Ready for the BUSY week to come!!!
I have to give Max credit for the beautiful pictures, but to be honest, they don't do the razor justice. It's truly a "MAXTERPIECE!"
I hope everyone has a great week!Last edited by ShavingSrgn; 10-07-2012 at 11:20 PM.
