Thanked: 1185Prep: Hot Shower
Razor: Texas Shumate
Brush: Omega Boar
Soap: Arko Shavestick
AS: Dickinson's Witch Hazel, Clubman Bay Rum
Finish: Pinaud Lime Sec EdC
Results: The Shumate Razor Company moved from Austin, Texas to St. Louis, Missouri in 1904. That would make this razor at LEAST 108 years old. Amazing that it still does what it was designed to do every bit as well as it did the day it was made. Wouldn't it be cool if people could be like that? It being Monday morning, I could swear it was me that was at least 108 years old.
The older I get, the better I was

MONDAY
Hot shower prep
Razor: Cosmo "Made in Germany" ~1900-1920
Soap: Cella
Mug: Ironstone
Brush: Col Conk boar
Aftershock: Alum block
Splash: Royall "Vetiver"
Another Cosmo came my way this weekend from an antique store. It had been "restored?" A couple hours of clean and hone and this was her first outing. A bit "Crisp;" sharp enough but does need to be mellowed a bit. First shave off the hones, no weepers, no blood, Good day! I still do not have the Cella figured out, but I continue to try. The Vetiver was, as always, pleasant and cooling.
The fun of trying things makes the day go a bit better and quicker!

Thanked: 154The canvas can do miracles
Monday Morning:
Dovo Pearlex #41 razor
Illinois 361 strop
Warm water splash prep.
Williams Mug soap in enameled tin cup
AoS badger brush
AoS balm, unscented
I could probably have skipped today's shave, but was looking forward to the peaceful way to start the day. After yesterday's slightly disappointing shave with the Dovo, I spent about a minute stropping on the canvas then about thirty seconds on the leather before taking my time with a slow, one pass shave using my best emulation of a barber-style scything technique. The razor was keen and smooth, and once again provided a very enjoyable shave. *Christopher Cross is right - the canvas can indeed do "miracles"
Have a wonderful day, gents.
