Friday face feast!!! :)
A wonderful Friday Shave!!
I just acquired a near mint Chrome Gem Micromatic TTO with a bunch of new SE blades, original GEM blades, and have been somewhat enjoying the respite from my straights. However, tonight, having both the opportunity and the motive, decided that a hot shower and a slow shave was specifically in order for the finale to this looooonnnnggggg week. I didn't want to totally deny myself the specific pleasure that 2 or 3 days growth disappearing in 1 pass with my 6/8 WB India Steel in Dogbone Maple scales. Followed up with a touch up ATG with my new SE. So here we go...
Pre: Hot shower, hair conditioner soak
Soap: RazoRock Artisan Boston Tea Party
Brush: 24mm Silvertip in Honey Locust
Razors: 6/8 WB Dogbone, GEM Micromatic with Gem Blue Star SE Blade
Post: Alum rub, witch hazel
AS: Aqua Velva Musk
Edt: Stetson (SWMBO's favorite)
Result: So close, even SWMBO remarked how soft and smooth my face felt. Doing the ATG pass with the SE made this one of the closest shaves I've ever had. The GEM is a very aggressive razor, and with a new edge to it, removed anything that remotely got in the way. I was left with a couple of weepers, and a strip of missing top layer on my adams apple. But, wow, despite all that, it was a terrifically close shave. The W&B performed admirably on the first pass, smooth and sans tug. Much less aggressive than the SE. All in all, a wonderful Friday Evening Shave!
Have a wonderful weekend all!!!
HammeR-- Any day I get out of bed, and the first thing out of my mouth is not a groan, that's going to be a good day --

Saturday AM - busy day planned today, lots of things to do so its an early start for me.
Am on shave 17 with my DORKO, its still going strong but I received my three new rescale jobs and I know I have to shave with them, so my 30 day plan may be interrupted for 3 shaves whilst I try out the new razors
I dream of a world where a chicken can cross a road without having it's motives questioned.

Nice to shave at home again, after a week in Turkey and a slight fever yesterday I'm feeling really good again
... had some really good shaves in Turkey, this guy was really good and I went there every second day, for a full Turkish shave (head and face, massage, burning things in the ears and you name it = 20 Turkish Lira/12 usd):
... and my worst nightmare came true in Turkey - my wife shaved me

Cheers, it was fantastic (I usually try to locate where the locals go and then try there first and that strategy worked fine this time as well). Rod Neep makes brushes like that, Pensoftheforest I think his company is named and he's an British guy who also makes pens (and I think he actually made one for one of the princes of UK). Anyhow Rod made this one special for me, since I'm kind of fanatic when it comes to coffee, too (it's real coffee beans in the handle)
