    Default A hurried morning!!

Hi all, Been a while. Work has kept me away for too long. I figured I would slip this in, regardless of whether I have a pic for it or not. Life has been relegating me to 1 or 2 shaves per week here of late. So, to improve the ratio of days to shaves, I have taken to shaving in the mornings with my GEM or Every Ready SE Razors. I love my SE's for that 'hurried' shave in the morning. The only problem is it robs me of the pleasure of that evening shave, which I rarely find the time for now-a-days. A huge thanks to my friend John for the gift of my first GEM SE. Here was this mornings face feast: Prep: Hot shower, Hair conditioning rub, Rise Baby Face Gel rubbed in. Razor: Unknown Year GEM SE with a NEW GEM Blade. Brush: 24mm Silvertip in Honey Locust custom (WillN) handle Uber: TOBS Eton College Collection (the tube version). Post: Alum, Lucky Tiger splash AS: OBR Limes and Peppercorns EdT: OBR Cologne (original). Result: A wonderful 3 pass, extra close and smooth shave. Man, I love a fresh blade in a GEM. It really does a great job for that rushed shave in the mornings. The OBR is a real eye opener and gets me moving a little faster afterward. Have an enjoyable, productive and profitable week gentlemen!!! HammeR

    Mike,

Glad you're enjoying the Gem. As I always say: The SE falls about half way between the DE and the Straight for aggressiveness and shaving experience -- perfect for your application.

Good to see you on again. Glad you're workin'. But remember, "All work and no play.." You know the rest!

    Take care my friend!http://straightrazorpalace.com/image...es/biggrin.png

MONDAY for the theme "My First..." on another forum Hot shower prep Razor: Schick injector Blade: New Schick stainless Soap: VDH Mug: Coffee mug Brush: generic 28mm silvertip Aftershock: Alum block Splash: NOS Mennen Johnny posted the little Schick his dad gave him. In our home, it was the answer to the family's needs. I still look back, in memory, to my dad shaving in the tiny bathroom of our rented flat. Sometime around then I learned about Oooh! Pretty, shiny, sharp! Took a couple band-aids/sticky plasters to staunch the flow. About 1948 we were able to move into our own home. About 1952 or so I had the "whispies" and started shaving with a razor similar to the one shown. Soap was always what brand was on the sink for general usage. I shaved with variations on the theme till the advent of the "ATRA" which I got for Christmas from my wife. The splash was almost always Mennen though I received and gave away many gifts of Old Spice. Oh, yes, the shave? Wonderful and close as i get in three passes with any blade. The Mennen hasn't lost its tang after many years on the shelf! I am ready to meet my world on a bright fall day! The fun of trying things makes the day go a bit better and quicker! ~Richard It takes five times as long to post here and there is no formatting command available on this thread. My frustration level with the formatting is about over the top and I may not be post ing till it is corrected.

You are most welcome, Luis. I hope your shave with the O&C went as well as it does for me.

The backbar is a 1950 Koken that a friend and I plan to restore (new base, marble top, replace one piece of broken glass). My wife wants to put up two large mirrors and then hang my "David's Barber Shop" sign in the center (a gift from a very special patient). She's being a great sport letting me decorate our bedroom this way.
She IS a great sport, David! Mine is the waiting area of my shop. The chairs are Koken and the waiting chair/bench as well as the cabinets are Kochs. The chairs were rusty and decrept, so I went with black powdercoat and 50's sparkly red. The base of the table is Kochs and the round top custom made and filled with old, colorful razors. There is even a razor clock! I hope to move the old tool collection, install a mirror and shelf on the wall, and put in a red and black checkerboard floor soon. Tom
