    @ShavingSrgn:
    I'm sorry for your loss. I think your gesture of getting that razor to your nephew is beautiful.
    I wish you strength in the coming days dealing with this.
    I can relate in a way. My father recently has been diagnosed with a cancer that can't be treated anymore and we may lose him any day soon now. It makes December an extremely dark month...

    Wednesday the 12th of the 12th of the 12th...
    Hot water prep
    Brittain, Wilkinson & Brownell "GB Anchor & Iron Cross" Meat Cleaver - Da Fat - New Forest 2223 High Mountain Badger - cold water splash - Truefitt & Hill 1805 ASB - hot towel - D.R. Harris Arlington AS - Music: Art Blakey over Youtube-Wifi-iPhone - Beer: Ename Tripel

    This shave was one of those "yes I can!" shaves. The GB had another perfectionist treatment on the Cot today. After having been rescaled on Monday night I looked up my SOTD from September for this blade and saw that there was still room for perfection. A dilucot and subsequent red strop finished by bare leather resulted in a HHT4 on the front of the blade and HHT3 on the rear part. Yeah! Still room for perfection, but already a great achievement for me. I've never brought a wedge this far yet, so I'm happy. I experimented also with Tha Fat. I added a few drops of glycerin to the lather and this made it more "creamy", I like that. The shave was excellent; smooth in two passes and ready to have some sashimi & sushi with the misses.

    Funny, I never knew cannibalism was so openly practiced in the Netherlands...
    He saw a lawyer killing a viper on a dunghill hard by his own stable; And the Devil smiled, for it put him in mind of Cain and his brother Abel.

    Hey, it's no downer, this place is more than just being about shaving; it's about mateship, I think...

    Sorry, I have been busy today.

    Elf on the Shelf is a tradition that we discovered only last year...I am not sure when it was invented, but it went "public" only recently. If you google it you will perhaps find a better explanation than I will give, but basically, the elf comes with a book, and you are supposed to just make it appear magically in your home when the kids are not around right after Thanksgiving.

    The concept is explained in the book that this elf is magical and will watch over the children in the home and report back to Santa nightly as to the naughty or nice being observed. As a result the elf magically moves every night, and comes back to a new hiding place.

    The book explains that if you touch the elf, he will loose his magic and be rendered a simple plush toy...and it is left to assume that Santa will be disappointed that the elf is not reporting back.

    It is a bunch of BS, but it is fun to give the kids something to search out every day and parents around the U.S. (world?) enjoy the game of hiding the elf and posing the elf in all sorts of goofy situations (if you search, you will find plenty...and some are pretty funny).

    My kids believe in this, along with Santa and magic, but they also understand the true meaning of Christmas. I like for my kids to be kids and enjoy accordingly. Being grown up is not all roses...so I want my kids to enjoy the magic while they can.

    In addition, my wife is a pro clothing designer who designs and makes custom clothing for everything from women's dresses to outfits for these elves...she also has made plush razor cases for me and a few friends. I am not trying to advertise her business here, just sharing some background as to why my elf looks a bit different than many you might see on the web. Our family is really into custom stuff...thus my affection for modern "hot-rod" razors
