That's a great brush that should work well with soaps, especially D.R. Harris. Keep trying. Try loading the brush longer with most of the water shaken out, face lather, then add water to the brush and continue face lathering, adding water a couple more times or so. You should get an explosing of good lather. Good luck. Nice blade, BTW.

Thanked: 3Good tip! I'll give it a shot. I do like the brush, and this hair combo, and I think you may be right about the moisture to soap ratio. I'll use this same brush soap combo next week and see if I can work out the kinks.
And, thanks for compliment! I need to try a few more Sheffield steel razors to make sure my infatuation with them is legit, but I find that I really like the heft and feel of most of the Sheffield blades I've held.

Went back to the Hart today. Haven't had time to touch up the Jos. Rodgers with my welsh purple. Nice smooth shave. Should have time to touch up the Jos. Rodgers this weekend. Can't wait till the St. Louis Meet so Lynn can help me with my Mappin. Then I will be back up to three in the rotation.
Happy Shaving!Shaving with facial hair is like a golfcourse. It's a challenge of rough and fairways. You are the skilled greenskeeper of your face?

Wow, that was one of the best shaves I've had. I think the Floris soap is the best one of the big London soaps.

Today; -8ºC, Scudding clouds, bursts of sunlight, almost, staggering after the scud. The Shave: One of my better shavers today. The little razor took an edge and hasn’t let it go since honed. It is sensitive to stropping and requires a deft touch to keep from slicing me. RR is good goods and piece of the soap about a little fingernail on size and stuck to the lid gives and easy 3 pass shave’s worth of lather and a lot left over. Another post here got me to break out the Avon. It counter-pointed the RR and my face feels great! A gentleman on this forum reminded me of this great manly splash.
The fun of trying things makes the day go a bit better and quicker!
