Prep: Shower
Brush: Semogue OC Boar Cherry
Razor: Nitti "77" Japanese Straight
Soap: Mitchel's Wool Fat
Astringent: Osma Alum
Aftershave: Speick
Result: Not quite BBS but close. Very little sting. Impressed by the blade - shaving was a fairly effortless experience.
I must be the only shaver in existence unable to get a good face lather from MWF. London water is full of chalk!

Shave prep Morning shave, so a hot shower
Brush: D.R. Harris
Preshave: –
Soap: D.R. Harris – Arlington
Scuttle: Simple soup bowl
Strop: Kanayama 20 canvas strokes and 60+ strokes on the leather
After Shave Splash: Nivea aftershave Balm
Notes:
Well, after reading about it here in several threads I thought: you never know if you don’t try. So I did a cold water shave.
Mmm, after having had a hot shower this just didn’t do it for me. The shave went okay I guess; no better or worse than a good hot shave although building a cold lather was lousy. However the blade glided well and skin felt okay undergoing the cold chopping.
But the experience as a whole I didn’t quite like. I miss the hot towels and lather on my face!
I will try again with another blade, that could maybe bring some change, in the same way as it does in a hot shave.
Already I dislike putting the adjective ‘hot’ to ‘shave’. When I say ‘shave’, I mean hot!
