Next adventure was honing the Jernbolaget (yes, I’m getting on some sort of SOTD track now). For some UNFATHOMABLE reason I decided to use a light slurry; 10 laps with and 10 without. Well, I’m here to tell you this morning’s shave was shit. Quite a bit tuggy, and even though it was five days of growth, tuggyness should not have happened with a sharp razor.

Just a side note on the five days of growth. This is the longest I’ve been without a shave for years, and I was mortified, yes, MORTIFIED at the ridiculously scant and patchy growth! I reckoned that some hair follicles had a massive 1 cm between them! I vowed to never again give advice on honing, firstly as I have clearly NO idea what I’m doing, and secondly any razor honed my even a halfwit monkey wouldn’t need to be re-honed for DECADES after being used on MY face. Maybe I should shave off the moustache, beard and soul-patch thingy so I can prove (or disprove) my honing skills!!
Carl, although you had a rough start, your post is quite entertaining. I wouldn't get down on yourself about your razor's edge, aren't framebacks a bit tricky to hone? Let's blame the edge on the razor itself rather than your honing.

I almost completed my 1st shave with this little beasty and you guessed it, a nice 10mm slice into my cheek

Hope you heal soon, I have a few square points, for me, focus is imperative when using them...Too bad they don't have an 'ouch' button next to the 'like'.

    Monday night
    Hot water prep
Joseph Rodgers razor - Silvertip badger brush - LaToja sc - cold water splash - Thayers green resplash - hot towel - L'Oreal asb - Pinaud Clubman as

Another great shave with the Rodgers. A slight tugging on the upper lip, so we'll see whether that can be corrected on the red pasted strop or whether we need a Thuri perhaps to bring her all the way back. Easter came and went and I took one extra day to spend outdoors with my girls on the beach and in the forest. It's still cold here and we're all longing for the country to finally warm up. Had a 7 kilometre run early this morning and the concert of the birds was phenomenal. Spring hopefully, finally will show its face around here, because we're tired of this winter.

Wow! Castle Forbes was worth every penny. I definitely feel spoiled.
