Yep, it's a Bengall. It's one of the bigger ones that I've seen. My mother likes to browse antique shops, and she knows about my "hobby" (obsession) and she showed up with it one day, asking "is this blade anything you'd use?" The scales are olivewood with a nickel silver inlay.

No sotd pic from me, as I'm on a business trip in Belgorod, Russia for a pathology congress.
Had no time yesterday, so it was the cartridge Gillette.
Today a nice walk back to the hotel with the swifts in the sky and this pretty sight.
Cheers,
Herman

Thanked: 485Let me know what you think about that idea, Liam! It's the same idea as making an Überlather or using a cream. It seems to me that any old technique works with an Über or with some really easy to lather creams (such as Body Shop Macca Root). When I went from creams to soaps I needed to really improve my lather making technique, as I found soaps harder to lather. I also found the same as you; I wasn't loading the brush enough; and I was also using too much water.
CarlStranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

So far so good, with less variables to concentrate on by skipping the preshave I noticed what I mentioned with lathering and that I need to adjust my angle slightly. I'm sure I'll notice a few more details of the next few days.
That's kind of the same reasoning I went with the VDH soap, it's an entry level soap not known for lathering well, it's cheap, and I can buy it at the grocery store across the street. If can can get a decent lather from VDH and eventually Mitchell's Wool Fat (although my wife's homemade varieties my precede MWF) then I'm ready for anything.Last edited by LiamPBoyle; 06-04-2013 at 11:36 PM.
