Okay, today's shave was just a quick one pass, as it always is during the week:

    Location: Louisville,KY
Pre-Prep: 1 cup of coffee (instant, blech....)
    Prep: Hot Shower
    Pre-Shave: None
    Soap: Van Der Hagen
Bowl: Wooden lidded shaving bowl of indeterminate manufacture
Brush: Boar hair of indeterminate manufacture
Razor: Vintage John Primble 1091 Extra Hollow Ground
Strop: Nicked, ripped, and chipped leather and webbing hanging strop of indeterminate manufacture
Astringent: Generic store brand witch hazel
Balm: Neutrogena for Men Razor Defense post-shave lotion

carlmaloschneider posted in a thread over in the "Shaving with a Straight Razor" forum about skipping the preshave so that technique in stropping, lathering, and shaving become more apparent so that's what I'm doing this week (#3 of using a straight razor everyday w/ one lapse back to a cart last Friday, I was really short on time). I'm getting a decent lather off the VDH soap it seems some of my early failures were just not working the brush on the soap long enough. The results a single pass shave that's at least good enough my boss isn't looking at me funny for not shaving. Although I seem to be getting a closer shave with my non-dominant hand than my dominant hand, go figure.

A Fatboy slammed to 9 sure gives a wonderful shave, wouldn't you say? How is the TOBS Grapefruit? I've been eyeballing it for a while and will soon take the plunge no doubt.

On hindsight, maybe an Isreali blade, or a Derby for #9, or perhaps not more than one #9 shave in a row.

After years of having just Palmolive cream and Tabac soap, I'm used to the scent being one that you have to coax out. TOBS grapefruit... it's most definitely one you don't need to dig the schnoz in for a good lungful. As for lathering, it's second-to-none.

If you're considering the stuff, you'll not be disappointed.

Finally, after two rounds on Mr Shapton 16k, the edge seems to be in the right hood again ... maybe one tour to Mr S for a final (well, you know what I mean) meeting

Still has a couple of pics, I haven't showed yet, from the garden:

Always a pleasure to use the Musgo Real! Great Shave! The Vie Long is slowly replacing the Semogue 830. Though I have been using creams more lately.
