    Pre : Kiehl's Face wash
    Soap : Mitchell's Wool Fat
    Brush : Semogue 620
    Razor : 1960 Gillette Fatboy (#5 setting)
    Blade : Gillette 7'o'clock yellow
Post : Homemade lime scented balm

Finish : Almost BBS. Left below jawline could be smoother.

    Comments :
Day two, and the MWF is still behaving itself. I'll give the Turkish "No.6" a go tomorrow, I think. The Semogue certainly likes MWF.

I am glad to see I am not the only one here to make homemade shaving products! Great!
Do you mind if I ask how your homemade balm is made?

They just keep getting better and better:

He saw a lawyer killing a viper on a dunghill hard by his own stable; And the Devil smiled, for it put him in mind of Cain and his brother Abel.

No problems. It's a 50/50 mix of Aloe vera gel and witch hazel, with a few drops of whatever essential oil(s) takes my fancy.

Thank you! Simple and very effective!
I tried to start, sometime ago in this forum, a thread on homemaking about products for shaving. Unfortunately no one participated to the thread. It would be great if we all could share recipes and comments about shaving products homemaking.
I like making shaving soaps and creams, also because I like experimenting and, of course, for the satisfaction of using something I personally made. Of course, I understand there are better products, anyway, I am very happy with the results I get.

And you should've seen the looks I got from shop staff when I asked about the items. Bewilderment from the staff when I mentioned I was planning to make my own a/s balm, and terror when I asked another shopworker about witch hazel.

I considered making my own soaps, but after researching both processes, I decided to leave that idea alone.

Believe me, it is not difficult at all. It takes just 30-40 minutes to make a soap bar or cream and, after that, it is just a matter of waiting, about one month and a half. Believe me: you will not regret the long wait.

Put simply, I lack the space needed.
