Stopped at ACE to get some sandpaper. The saleslady, who appeared to be at least 70, seemed intrigued when I mentioned what it was for. Her eyes lit up. Must have brought back memories of her Dad or something.

My gf are starting to be suspicious. I have gone from shaving 1 time a month, to use 30min per day in the bath. And the wet towel, smells and balms aren't helping. To top it of I am dreaming of meeting a strange man to talk about lather and stones(birnando)...
She thinks I am going crasy, found a lover or worse found a man lover:-D
My friends think it's cool

Thanked: 11During a training event at work, we had to submit a favorite song and two truths and a lie. they would pull one slip of paper daily and play the song. The group had to guess who's favorite song it was, then the you told the two truths and a lie. They had to guess what was the lie. When my song was played, they were amazed to hear that I shaved with a straight razor. That is the only time it has come up at work.
My GF loves it, she really likes how smooth and soft my face is now compared to the carts I used to use. She really likes the SRP Limited Edition. She got me a brush stand engraved with "To Jim, An old soul with a warm heart". I have actually got her shaving with a DE, she loves Tabac. I got my uncle back into DE shaving too (he's in his late 70's). He wont try a straight again though, he has bad memories of cutting that spot where his earlobe meets his jawline when he first started shaving. We both have shaving mugs given to us by his mother, that belonged to her grandfather.
My immediate family thinks it is neat, but two of my brothers are still using cartridge razors. The third brother has had a full beard since he was 16. My mom spent a lot of years doing antique shows with a friend of the family and had her eyes peeled for a Colombian Exposition Razor. I have one now, but she is still looking for nice straights at shows. I'm sure if my Dad were still alive, I would have him into it, I never saw him with even a days growth, he even had us bring his shaving gear to the hospital so he could get a decent shave every day he was there before he passed.
The most important thing is that I love it. I have not gone a day without shaving since I started with a DE a couple years ago. For the last 4 months it has been with a rotation of 7 straights, with just two days with a Merkur Slant.

Thanked: 375Not much is said to me. They think it's cool, I guess....
I did convert my Dad to a DE that I made. He also has a Mach 3 I made for him, along with a few shave brushes but his wife recently told me that he bought an electric shaver and to not tell me, well she did anyway! I gave him dirt about it...
He shaves his head like I do and just can't seem to get the hang of the DE on his head. Coverted my brother, and 3-4 other relaitives over to DE's, no takers on the straights.......although I did get my cousin to use one once while I directed him what to do, I guess he didn't feel the need to switch from his DE. Most everyone I know shaves once a week, so I guess they don't feel the need to switch.CHRIS
