Thread: Did any of you take up Straight Razor Shaving to be....

Several reasons I started, 1. I wanted to save $ on shaving, 2. Since I make knives, if I said a knife is Razor sharp, It will be. 3. Honing is a challenge when learning sometimes (fun).

In all seriousness I started out of nostalgia.That's how Grampa did it,I'm also a sucker for old and cool ! Old School ! The fact that I'm not paying for razors that some add says I've got to have and then throw away and get some more is a bonus.Plus the whole dump landfill thing.I'm banned from the dump anyway cause I come out with more then I take in.As far as kind to animals and the whole we don't use any animal products in our ingredients pass the Bacon !

We would get along just fine!

I switched from shaving with a DE (issued in boot camp at Parris Island) to SR because I retired from the military, work and have the time. It's one of the greatest pleasures for me now to have a hot lather shave with a straight razor, smoke a good cigar (hand rolled on the thighs of virgins), drink some really good dark rum, and have a hot woman (wife unit) waiting for me. It doesn't get any better than that, for me at least. Life is good and you should enjoy it while you're can. The environment will take care of itself no matter what I try to do to protect it. Just an old war horses opinion about such things.

With all of the pleasures you list, all you need to be complete is a well-trained dog!

My wife and I were grocery shopping and we went to the razor section, where she spent too much on some cartridges. I reminded her that I didn't need to spend money on those anymore
She ignored me, but then I repeated myself and she simply asked how many razors I have bought this year and the total spent on said razors...

The correct answer to that is "but I can re-sell the razors, you can't do that with cartridges", maybe stand back and prepare to duck..........lol

That is an excellent answer. I well keep that in mind when I justify my impulsive spending in the future.

Well actually, I have two of them. I just didn't mention them at the time. Life is good for me right now. I don't have anyone shooting at me anymore or throwing grenades at me. Most people don't understand that feeling....
