Ha, seriously though, I certainly and strongly advise against shaving uphill anywhere in the delta region, especially in the narrower spots. There is too much opportunity for serious error

Default finally the first straight coochie razor

Okay folks here it is be nice as this is my first attempt at a regrind let alone a coochie razor. It started out as a wapi, as most can tell, I was going to put maple scales on it but decided I like the ease of cleaning the stainless steel, and it gave them a good weight so I stuck with them but trimmed them accordingly. You might see some reflection in the blade but it is mirror finish on scales and blade. Also I apologize for the funky pictures as I had to use my web cam rather than my digital as the digital and I are not getting along well at the time. Hope you enjoy and let me know what you think.

    Default Thanks

I posted in the sister thread in the workshop but since more people will see it here I will post here as well. This project was a success only because of the advice, encouragement and confidence from Bruno, Cannonfodder, JoshEarl, and Mike Ratcliff. Thanks to all of you for helping out a newbie who wanted to take on a challenge.

Wow, looks like a couple guys beat me to the coochie razor. Fine work, gentlemen! Today the mailman brought me two goodies; the Weck Shavette thing pictured in this thread, and a little 3" X 1/2" straight blade in need of some scales. I bought some 1/16" brass rod at the hardware store for use as pin material. Now I need to find something to make a handle out of.

PS, Icedog, where do you get those disposable blades? They're a lot smaller than a standard single-edge. Maybe I should snap a DE in half & make up a sleeve for it like the Dovo Shavette.

how about using a feather razor? That way you can always guarantee a sharp razor. Even if i have to run it through a cork a couple times to kill the machined edge alittle. Only problem now is....THE WIFE!

Okay so my regrind obviously wasn't the first but I thnk it has good company, I do believe the PCR brotherhood has been born. Now if we can just get a logo Hope, So what does everyone think for the first attempt? I think it turned out fairly well, There are a few "scars" from the vise but other than that I think it looks pretty good. I was really impressed with how easy the tip was to reshape. I may end up having custom scales inlayed for it as I don't have the inlay equipment to make it look good. Here's to the PCR brotherhood, may we always be aware of the risk that is taken but the reward as well!!!!!

I'm no artist, but I'm sure someone could concoct an image of an open razor where the scales are one leg and the toe of the blade is the other and both come down into a pair of high heels. The tang could be ... well, the tang. Or for the sake of remaining tasteful, we could throw a skirt on it. Lots of potential here

I would have more input here if I had a willing C to start a PR on.
