Thanked: 77It's too dry here. Glasses only fog up while you have the hot towel on your face. Clears up in less than a minute. If you want a glasses challenge, try mine. I have two vision solutions.
1) progressive lens glasses - mid to close range is a pretty narrow field of view. Looking sideways doesn't work so well.
2) translating, tri-focal, rgp contacts. they translate to different segments as you look up or down (same thing looking at a fixed spot - like the mirror - and raising or lowering your head)
I use both but things are a bit sharper more of the time with the glasses. It's just that I keep nicking the bottom of the lenses while shaving my cheeks....Last edited by Quick; 02-24-2009 at 01:09 AM.

Thanked: 0I use both a hot shower and hot towel for my shaving prep. I have found in my case that the hot towel following a shower provides a better shaving experience.

When I want the very best shave prep I wash my face with Noxema before I shower. At the end of the shower I rinse my face with as warm of water as I can stand then go shave with no hot towel [No need]. If I shave without a shower I use the hot wet towel using hot tap water. Three passes with hot wet towel before shaving is enough prep for me and I get a good shave.

Thanked: 0Iced towel at the end...Nice
I've got to try that one. Always seem like my skin is on fire after a styptic pen, so the ice would be perfect right before throwing on some after-shave.
Now if we only had time for all this...

I always use the hot towel after a hot shower. I boil water and then pour it all over a wash cloth or a smaller towel and then put the hot towel on my face before I strop and shave. It works great, I wouldn't replace it with just a shower though....

Straight out of the shower, dry everything but the face while the brush is in the sink being heated and moistened, then swirl hot water onto the face with the brush, lather up, strop and have at it.
It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain

I prefer the hot towel treatment, this has been my routine for the past 10yrs, my dad was a barber this is what he taught me he also gave me a lather heating machine which I have never used. I think the machine is rather time consuming. The hot towel works great.
