+1 on the dry hands. I'm not sure what I was thinking, or not thinking. I normally have my towel handy, but not today. One thing everyone who shaves with a str8 knows, You cannot be distracted, EVER.....I know what I did now that I think about it. I was adding water to the lather in my scuttle using my cupped hand...Big Mistake.

Thanked: 235Maybe you are lucky it hit your thumb first. Imagine what could have happened if the razor hit the porcelin with full force.

Glad you and the Duck are okay. I haven't had anything like that happen yet (knocking on wood) and I do make sure my razor hand stays dry. I used to shave naked out of the shower but now I make sure to put my undies on.... if you get my drift .... IOW, it could have been a lot worse.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

+1 on the dry hands. I keep a dry bar towel right on the edge of the sink. I make sure both hands and the entire length of the tang are dry during the shave. If they're not, I stop the shave, and dry my hands and/or the tang on the towel before I resume. Soap and water can make things WAY too slippery for my comfort zone when I'm handling a straight.

I keep a towel tied around my waist while I shave for reasons like this. I make sure I rub the heck out of my hands on the towel before I pick up the blade..
Not because of fear of cutting myself, but because......
I have a problem too!
I hope your thumb heals ok and don't let the girlfriend see!
