Yes, I did. Ironically, I seemed to be more concerned about the Duck than my thumb, I'm thinking, Damm, I wish this thing would stop bleeding so I can finish shaving. I wiped off the Duck and finished the shave. I didn't know that about blood and steel, good advice, thanks a bunch....Rich

Glad you and the DD are OK! I can sure understand, even with dry hands the arthritis in my hands worries me. Sometimes my grip is awkward. I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

Zib!
Man, I'm glad to hear that both duck and thumb are (for the most part) ok...
My wife and I used to own a bagel bakery. Back then, the most common reason for people to visit an ER was due to cuts inflicted while slicing a bagel. Whenever my wife and I would hire a new employee, we would take a good solid half hour teaching them the proper method for slicing a bagel, lest they become the latest ER statistic. Needless to say, the vast majority of our employees ended up cutting themselves anyway. I became quite the cut technician; I think I coulda cornered for heavy weight boxers.
Anyway.... One day in the bagel bakery, my wife decided that she, too, should become a statistic. The cut was baaaaad. Left thumb, cut so deep that the edges sagged. Well, we couldn't lose her to the ER, cause it was the lunch rush. Only an actual missing digit was serious enough to warrant leaving the shop. So I took heri n the back room, flushed the cut out with hydrogen peroxide, then closed the cut with butterfly bandages, then wrapped it all up in stretch gauze. That would have to do til we got home.
That night, I applied neosporin anti biotic over the top of the butterfly bandages. That's the secret to using a vaseline based anti biotic with butterfly bandages: apply the neosporin *after* applying the butterfly closures. If you put the neosporin on first, the butterflies won't stick. Also apply the neosporin very sparingly. Then cover it with gauze, and wrap it up in stretch gauze. Try to immobilize the injured digit as much as you can. Any motion along the cut will drasticly lengthen the heal time, as well as make scarring worse.
I did a pretty good job on her thumb. She doesn't even have a scar from it. I must say, though, that there is no substitute for proper medical care. We really should have gone straight to the ER for stitches. It's always best to let the medical professionals take care of cuts like this, but if that isn't an option, butterfly closures, good septic control, and good immobilization is a decent substitute.
Oh, and btw.... THIS THREAD IS USELESS WIHTOUT PICS! No, not of your thumb, silly, your new Duck! I don't think we've seen pics of it yet.

You know, your right Pizza, I have a whole flock, I'll post. I've really developed a bad case of RAD and HAD. I actually have 10 of those ducks in my current shave rotation, it'll make a nice pic...And thanks for the medical advice, Man, You sound like a Doctor, That's great advice. Maybe we can do an Injury section in the WIKI...

I was reading your thread with such suspense! So happy the duck is ok. I dropped an Engels and even though I only paid $10 for it. God it hurt. Now someones gonna make a 2" pet out of it.
As for your thumb, can't count how many times I have sliced open all of my fingers on knives. Glad you made it out relatively unscathed. Sad to say, but our bodies heal. Razors don't. : P
