Thread: One Pass Challenge !!!!

I use half-hollows to wedges (mostly) and it's one pass "plus". i.e. I immediately splash some water or extra lather on the "rough" or missed spots and hit them a second time. I never shave ATG, but my neck hair grows more horizontally on the sides, so it's always XTG.

I get close to BBS on most days but it doesn't bother me at all if not. Fewer passes for me means less aftershave sting, which is my gauge of a nice shave.

WOW, It's been a long time since this was discussed here. Shaving with the grain for every day shaves is really the quick way to go and you do get really nice shaves that way. The only problem is, that you can still feel that little stubble on the across or against the grain areas.

So for those who only need the clean shaven look the one pass would certainly work, but for those who really love that full BBS, sticky close feeling then you gots ta go for the full monty.

The problem for me is that I really never get to do this but on a rare occasion as I always have a ton of blades to test from honing every day and that has been 7 days a week for a long time........ The hard part is that when I hone them, the whiskers just run away and it's tougher to get the testing done.........

I could do it, I have done it. If I only had 1 pass then I would move straight to ATG with XTG on my chin and upper lip probably.

A one pass WTG would be fine.. but feeling the stubble would drive me crazy

One of these days, I'll do a photo of mini-me, which is my thumb. Who'd a thunk you could get a disability from honing razors.......

They tell me the feeling will come back when they amputate the callous

with the wapi i got from glen, at just the right angle, i got almost BBs with the grain, on one long swipe down the cheek
my throat hairs grow in a swirly grain, to they take work

Funny you ask Glen, The other day I did just one pass and got great results... so yes, my edge is good... but that may be because you are the one who honed that razor (Henckels 4/8 401 platinum).

The second WTG feels so good I would hate to give it up right now.

that is how i test shave the razors that i sell if it dont get it in one pass i hone it some more till it shaves smooth.
