You remain very humble when you have a Feather str8 in your rotation.

    Joe,

If you don't stop bringing up that damn Feather Straight I'm going to have to try one...and I'm broke at the moment!

Don't you hear that tiny voice of your conscience telling you to buy one? Who needs food anyways?

Edit: It's been urging me to do some bad things as well. I'm trying to resist the compulsion to buy a Norton to add to my Japs lol

That's why if a woman ever makes the mistake of marrying me and we decide to expose this planet to my offspring, that I'll have a son. No expensive dresses, no makeup and no paying for weddings. Just some sports gear and a car when he turns 16.. University tuition/books are going to be bad enough for me lol.

Actually my dad set aside about 20K EUR for a country wedding and I'm nowhere near getting married. Recently it came to the point of him telling me to find a wife lol. Even if he could enforce his authority across the Atlantic, there's no chance in the h-place for me to marry someone unless I'm feeling an overwhelming compulsion to spend the rest of my life with her.

Here's a thought: I had a few ingrown hairs in my time, not chronic or anything, but a couple of times each year. In the last 8 months of straight shaving I haven't had any! I attribute this to the depilatory effect of sweeping the top dying layer of skin away with the whiskers. It's this dead skin which clogs up the opores that the hairs get caught behind and start to curl under. I wouldn't be surprised if you never experience another ingrown hair even if you dio go against the grain with the straight.

My first razor arrived from eBay and was clearly very well maintained since it's last shave a few decades ago. It didn't take much to get it shaving, but when the Böker arrived from David Uthe and then the Wade & Butcher from Bill Ellis I was aware that the edge on my Dubl Duck could step up a notch. A little more work on the ho0ne and it did. Recently I've been experimenting with the hones and I can certainly feel the difference when a razor isn't quite sharp enough because it pulls a little. I can also feel the overpolished wire edge (which some of my razors seem to be suffering from at the moment) as razor burn and see it as well as blood on my face. I could also tell when my shavers were losing their keeness after months of shaving. They felt smoothed without being wiry and didn't cut as close. I think you're right to some extent, but a little experience can go a long way. Too far sometimes considering that I've been knowingly shaving with wired edge razors. I think the foray into experimenting on the hones has been very valuable in this regard if a little uncomfortable. Should help me in the long run.
