Been Thinkin'
re. Keeping Women: I was a self proclaimed lifelong bachelor, a Benedick before I met Validator. Not that I was against it, just figured a guy like me would never find a permanent girl. After five years I realised I wanted her around in perpetuity and I was proven wrong on the bachelor account.
re. The Cycle of Abuse: You're 100% right FiReSTaRT, it must be broken and this is the best time and place. Anybody not of the same mind must be brought around if you can or left behind until they can.
re. Female faults: Those of us in glass houses ...
re. Disciplining Children: Positive reinforcement always works best. Rather than making chores a punishment, reward them for their hard work on the chores regularly. Then they learn their skills and appreciate doing the chores more frequently for being good!

Arrrrgh Maties!
Raise the main sail we have a thread drift!
I think the video is terrific! Just don't try to use it as an instructional tool. Another great example of the fact that a video isn't any different than any other post. Its just a shot of the way HE does things.

It's really dependent on the shape of the face and it is a good illustration of the advantages of a straight razor: The angle of the blade can be altered to fit the shape of your face, the density of the hair growth, the individual regions of the face/neck or any other condition. Mine is too angular and irregular for doing what Brian was doing lol.
P.S. You were right about drifting and I'll try to keep it down.

I think it's a really cool video in that it's fun to watch. I like Lynn's video for learning technique. Of course, I'm still just *looking* at straight shaving (I'm a DE shaver at the moment).
Also, this is my first post!

Thanked: 0This is actually the first shaving video I saw. My first thought was that there is no way I am going to be able to shave like that. Then I saw Lynn's Video. Much better instructional video. I am still having trouble trying to shave with my right hand (I'm a lefty). Any suggestions.
Thanks
Jim

Not from me. I'm a one-handed shaver. In any case I'm getting good results, so I don't have a reason to **** with something that works quite well.

Never hold the blade still against your face, always keep it in motion.
Visualise each stroke clearly and completely before it happens, then follow your mind through.
Remember to breath.

I don't put that much thought into my shaving...but then again I've so far not shaven without drawing blood..... Today was the best though....nothing but 2 small dots and a smooooooooooth face all over....I'm really starting to love shaving more and more....(I don't care about little cuts...as long as I don't make any big ones like Bill's (that's one scary slash Bill).

Part of the weirdess of learning the "off-hand" is, I think, that we're also looking into a mirror; this adds an extra learning-element to "tracking" the off-hand with our eyes.
At a certain point, I think the brain learns the new task and it just sort of clicks. I remember similar exercises in school, when we'd have to draw a line in a maze with each hand, only seeing it in a mirror: very hard with the off-hand, then all of a sudden, no problem.
In the meantime, my only suggestion would be to watch that blade angle carefully while your hand and eye adjust.

It's wonderful if you can use both hands but I have been shaving with only my right for over a year and it works for me.
