I've been at it now for the grand total of one month and I'm 43... Being Army It was always encouraged to shave FAST! I'm learning the joy of taking my time. What a pleasure it is. (hey my first reply...) Oh and is it common to already have HAD, RAD, SAD, OCD etc?

I started with DE's at 29 and took the plunge into straights in December at the age of 30.

Thanked: 983What age did you start shaving with a straight???!
When I think about that title some more, I'm not sure I answered the question correctly first time around, so just to cover my bases here, I will give an alternative answer. I have never been gay to my knowledge, so therefore I have always been shaving with a straight. If there are other blokes in the bathroom they have been straight too...That is, unless some of my mates or other blokes when I was in the army are or were closet poofs, in which case I may have been in the presence of a non straight shaver at some point.
Right. Hope I've got the bases covered now.

I started Nov 2010 at the age of 39 - hence the user name. Better late than never but I've a barrowful of regret for not discovering this superior and noble method of shaving years sooner.

I started at 50 a couple of months ago. I always liked knives, but couldn't use them enough to justify my desire to sharpen them as often as I'd like to. Found out about straight shaving right here at SRP and now I can play with my blades to one degree or another every day. I'm in heaven!

Got my first straight shave (with a real straight) at 32 by an old barber just before he retired (finally at 80!). For some inexplicable reason, considering how great the shave was, I didn't start using one until I was 36.
