Thanked: 443Started dabbling in my early 30s, went full-time last year at age 45.

Started last month, age 30
It's been in my mind for about 10 years though, but initially I don't know why I'd thought only certified barbers could purchase and use straight razors.

I am curious as to how many members we have here that are old enough to say that when they were old enough to have to begin shaving, they did so with a straight, mainly because that was about the only razor available at the time or just didn't have the extra money to buy a "new fangled" DE razor.
I tip my hat to the young guns we have here that choose the old school way of shaving. What a great new way to impress the girls!

I was 38 when I finally got to it. Wondered about it for years before that and if it wasn't for this place I don't know what I'd be doing right now, but I almost certainly wouldn't be shaving with a straight razor.

Thanked: 235I started when I was 21. Then promptly gave up. It was ten years later that I decided to start again. This time it has stuck.
