I turned 58 last August! (Remember, it's not the age that counts, it's the mileage and unfortunately I have a lot of miles on me)! I started with my uncles 5/8 square point Genco Grant. My then 17 year old son took it up about a year + ago. We both love it! I have acquired several razors and have been using them in a weekly rotation. I'm currently using my Great Grandfather's restored W&B 6/8 near full wedge that Glen did for me! My son sticks to the 8/8 Friodur that I gave him last year for Christmas! He's tried many others but always prefers his Friodur!
Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.

I'm old enough to shave with a straight razor.

53 and retired since last year, that's when I started with Straights because now I have the time to do so, always was a DE shaver however. Tried a straight at age 20 but little did I know about stropping or honing so it didn't work. I like it so much that I even have started to shave my head :-)

For the moment (they go fast) I am 55, but in my mind I am somewhere in my mid 20's. I have been playing with straights since about 1975, but I really didn't know what a finely honed razor felt like until Glen M fixed me up! I grew a beard when I went off to college and didn't have to shave for ROTC and used an old family W&B to trim my neck and cheeks. It was much better than my old DE.
I hated my first razor, a Gillette Slim Adjustable that my dad gave me, but I am sure now that it was those cheap blades and lack of good technique that I didn't like. Hated the multi bladed razors, didn't like injectors, but I always used my brush and soap no matter what I was using at the time. Straights give me a great comfortable shave with no irritation even on a little area that has always been sensitive.
Now I will use one of my DE's when I don't have time to devote the proper attention for a straight shave and I love some of the modern blades. My son who is 27 is stuck on a '30's era Gillette New with Feather blades, but I keep trying to get him to pick up one of my straights. At least he is loving the shave and not spending money on the carts.

My daughter calls me old.
My MIL was shocked when I wore jeans for two days straight last time I visited them. She told me she's used to seeing me in slacks so jeans and a t-shirt took her by surprise. My SRD T-shirt is one of 4 t-shirts I own that isn't an undershirt. My wife makes fun of how my knees pop loud enough to be heard across the room every time I sit down or get up when it's cold out. She says she knows winter is on the way when she can hear me get out of bed in the morning.
I'm usually ready for bed by 8pm but I'm hopelessly addicted to video games/fark.com so I don't usually go to bed until 11pm if I'm on xbox live or reading a good thread on fark.
SWMBO says I turned 29 this year but most days I don't believe her.
