If it did happen, then think of the craftsman that would have to come back, actually having blacksmiths and people who know how to sharpen once again. And maybe just maybe, we could walk into a barbershop and get a decent shave.

Be careful what you wish for! I would be investing my money in a strop business maybe, since a surge in the popularity of straights would undoubtedly be accompanied by a million mutilated strops! On the other hand, it would not take the electrical goods industry long to come up with a honing/stropping machine giving faultless (think of the laser-guiding system in a CD player) results. Settings for carbon steel/stainless + holes to replenish diamond paste/CrO2 etc. etc. Plonk it in and dial interactions up, like a bread machine. Interested ????

Nah, I dont think people would give up the fun of sharpining their own, unless they were really bad at it,although I wouldnt mind filling the new demand for strops.....

So what brand razor do you use? Is it a pretty obscure name that I probably haven't heard of?

I'm sure you haven't,my favorite is my Gottlieb and Hammersfhar French point, but I have three others and they are without a doubt MY favorites,
and I have many to compare them with. This is just my opinion, others here have many, many more razors than I have, but I have about twenty two
Henkels,Boker, and the like,I just find that these suit me the best, and from what I can tell there aren't many for sale, and that says something.

    30.
I started shaving with a straight right after my 30th birthday, when my buddy made good on a forgotten bet. learned a lot in the past 11 months and most of that was through finding this forum after making ALL of the new guy mistakes

    51. I started wet shaving about 30 years ago, took up straights in May 2010. Wish I'd known that they were still available--and how to shave with them--a lot sooner!

You're right I haven't heard of them...you, sir, are a true hipster! That's a rather impressive collection size in comparison to my single razor. I just started using a straight on Christmas. How long have you been at it?
