(Apologies if this is too off-topic for this forum.)
For me it depends. Mid week is sometimes, if the wife is in bed then no. Weekends I'll always have some tunes on the go, might even bop as I lather

This thread seems to have some legs!
I listen to Octane XM37 every time I shave with any one of my straights.
Some have told me that the Heavy Metal and Cold Steel doesn't mix well.
    I disagree vehemently!

    Default nothing metal

I'm a big Iron Maiden fan from the 80's but something tells me Maiden wouldn't be a good choice while shaving with a straight razor. http://straightrazorpalace.com/images/smilies/rock.gif lol I kinda like Ray Charles so I might try something like that or the previous post of Frank Sinatra.

I prefer to listen to some music most of my shaves, sometimes I like the silence though. I've been doing George Winston's December alot as it is winter here. I like a very relaxing music most times, but not always. The music becomes part of the shave for me and tends to set the vibe. These shaves have become the most looked forward to aspects of my week.

I often listen to metal while I shave without having any problems. Are you sure it wouldn't work out for you? Maybe you should try

This, M-F. I turn the water off now and wipe spent lather silently on flannel.

Weekends, light music or the news - or anything MrMagnus selects.

First month or two, silence by reason of no distractions. I preferred to hear myself getting nicked.

Just the fan and the sound of the whiskers going to their doom.

I generally shave in silence but if the neighbors get too noisy then the stereo gets cranked.

I shave in silence. I even tried to use earplugs...absolute silence... but not hearing the whiskers being cut, made it a little weird.
