Hey!! I loved the Suess'ism!! That was great.
Now, to answer the question!! No! It was not a spike that got me, but poor angles while using my Puma 'My Darling' 7/8 round tip. A poor placement and she went right in, first touch. Made me jump too, darn near cut myself again fighting the involuntary muscle twitch pain causes. hehehe.
M-- Any day I get out of bed, and the first thing out of my mouth is not a groan, that's going to be a good day --

Again, the picture isn't very clear once it is enlarged but you get the general idea. After I got the picture the nurse pushed the opening together and applied about 10 steri-strips. I guess they are more worried about a scar than I am.

Yow, that still looks mighty painfull to me!!! I hope to avoid anything that looks like that, if at all possible, heheheh.

Ohhhhhh! That made me a bit woozy. Not the cut, just the loss of a digit! Seems lotsa Neo and plenty bandaids are coming! It will heal up as scar tissue.
As you feel heat in it, it will be smoking! For a while! Take care of it!

Looks a lot like the tip of the middle finger on my right hand. I rather not talk about how I got mine. It was a couple years ago. Let's just say part of my finger has less feeling. Let's hope you don't have the same outcome.

Funny you should mention that! The tip of the finger is numb, has been since the "incident." The attending E.R. PA told me there weren't ant nerves in the tip of the finger when I told him it was numb. I asked if the feeling would eventually come back. He acted like I was stupid for asking or that I didn't understand him because he repeated his statement about there not being any nerves in the tip of the finger, except this time he did it with attitude. I dropped the subject.
Today one of the first things the Dr asked me was if there was any numbness! When I told him about the dialog exchange with the PA he got a little upset. Anyway... He told me the feeling should come back in about a year, IF it comes back at all. Oh well.

Get well soon! Round about two years ago I cut my left ring finger and it looked quite like your injury. Two years no numbness and only a scar visible.

Did you ever get a paper cut? As far as I know, and I'm not a young attending physician, just someone who is well acquainted with the emergency room and as far as I know your fingertips are loaded with nerves. Just my opinion. I've been wrong before.

I'm not the one who was trying to say there aren't any nerves in the finger tips, it was the attending PA! Can you believe that? If there weren't any nerves in the finger tips we wouldn't have the sensation of feel. I still don't know what he was thinking unless he was confused about my question. He may have thought I was asking about motor-sensory nerves which are located further down the finger. Anyway... alls well that ends well.
