My mail is going the other way this week.

Last week a friend in Detroit sent me a lovely Wade Butcher 8/8 notched Barber blade to try (for sport only, not to purchase). It went back today.

And a pal in California (who co-moderates a pipe/cigar forum with me) asked me about getting started with straight shaving. He is an experienced wet shaver with oversized hands; I sent him a page of advice along with a 7/8 Kropp round point, a 3x18 piece of leather, some poly webbing and a 6/8 Abram Brooksbank Defiance round point today.

Some times you gets and sometimes you gives.

A cigar AND a derby, now that's a classic look!

Received a Torrey and an Ever Ready SE razor that I won in an eBay auction for $10.50. The straight has a slight frown and a cracked scale. I think a previous owner did some excessive pin tightening. It is super tight. SE is a little beat up but I really wanted to try an SE. And for less than $15 including shipping I don't feel that I lost out.

How do you like your Hart?? I'm leaning towards getting one of those or a 7/8 - 8/8 Henckels for my next razor. Those Bocote scales are really sexy
