Thanked: 4826The leather side is all cut to h-e-double hockey sticks.
The side shown is likely salvageable, just the edges are messed up.
I may be able to trim the edges or sand them round. It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Actually these arrived today to help facilitate the building of a few loom strops over here in the middle of the country..
Now I can finally start to lay out the project."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

Thanked: 42063500 rpm sadly.
so I may need to retool a spare furnace blower motor for this wheel. Slower rpm will help reduce grinder wear as well on the tools.

Thanked: 4826I see Rikon has a low speed grinder put. It made my mind wander to making a grinder too. In theory single wheel, low speed should make for a good sharpener for chisels and drills bits. It you get the speed low you can set up a drip and wet/damp drip too. At 3500 it would be an awful mess.

Thanked: 4206Ha, zactly where my mind wandered.
As I was thinking about the speed, then a stand alone, 1 sided motor mount, then a drip pan for cooler, spark free grinding, it got me to either a furnace fan, or maybe a wall fan motor from work. We go through those like gang busters and they have a strong industrial motor on them. Advantage of a one sided dedicated unit is I can make some specific jigs up for what I’m sharpening on it."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."
