Got a couple in the mail. Another Kamasori just like the first one I got last week and this G. Johnson.
The Johnson has a little hone wear but not much if you consider how old it is. My searching came up with 1822 to 1855. Hard to believe but that's the best I could find. I polished the horn scales and tightened the pivot pin. Rubbed a little polish on the blade, Reshaped the heal and corrected a divot in the middle of the edge. The toe has been abused but... I believe it was a 6/8 but is now an 11/16. Ready for the hones when I get time.

And no, I didn't paint the stamp. Deep and dark when I got it. You can see the stars and hammer clear as day! Nice.
    It's just Sharpening, right?

Paul, is that 'REAL' a Cattarugus or a Korn?
I have one on display and the blade is cracked like most all I have seen.
Due to the guard's support, I think they were purposely ground really thin.
Looking forward to seeing how one would shave without the guard. Or WITH it as-well!

The bottom one is a handle to strop the old-school DE blades.

Came back home from being out of town for work all week to these in my mailbox. The top two are J.R. Torrey and the bottom one is a Peter J. Michael's Perfecto. Really looking forward to using the Torrey frameback as I know they aren't too common.

Not sure yet. It hasn't come yet. I'll let you know when I have it in my hot little hand. Thanks for the info on the handle Tom. Is that one you use for that hurdy gurdy looking strop machines?

No, you would put a DE blade in and strop it on a regular strop. That was back when the blades were carbon steel.

After trying a sample and loving it, I finally pulled the trigger on some Martin de Candre Rose!

I have a Michaels Perfecto similar to that one. It is extremely hollow and takes a wicked sharp edge. That's a contract by either ERN or Imperial if I recall. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with that one.
