That's a neat trick with the wenge using bleach, it's something different - looks cool!

The coticule measures 7-1/8 inches long, is a bit tapered in width from 1-3/8 to 1-5/8, and is 5/8 inches thick. It's also a bit tapered on the "bottom" and gives me the impression that it may have been mounted in wood at some point. Looks to be a natural combo, needs cleaning.

The longer stone mounted in wood measures 8-5/8 by 1-1/4 and seems to be some sort of slate? Need to clean it to see.

Then there is this next one that, to me, has that kind of feel like a thurigan might. It measures 7-1/8 long by 1-1/2 wide by 7/8 thick. Need to clean it and see.


There is another slate (?) hone not picture here, newer feeling, not as soft in the hand somehow. Also is an old beat up Aloxite barber hone and some common worn out silicon carbide bench stones and some fragments of others.

Looks to be a natural combo here, the bbw are supposed to be finer finishers that way.

A beautiful slow finisher. The one I have is packaged such that I'm hopeful for you buddy..
As a rule of thumb I have found they tended to box up the nicer stones back in the day. Hell, some of us still do.

Tuzi, the one you removed from the wood box might be a Washita.
Here a pic of mine, for comparison once yours is cleaned up.

Well, the long one that was mounted is definitely not a washita, or a charnley for that matter. It seems to be an old synthetic low to mid range hone. It's not as heavy as you would expect and when I lapped it there was a strong smell of creosote, like railroad ties on a hot day. Also, there is a swirly pattern visible. I don't know what it is


The coticule turned out really nice, seems hard and smooth. A most welcome addition to my collection of coticules.


And this one has certainly caught my attention. I think it might be a thuringian. Very smooth and silky, the slurry when I lapped it was creamy and buttery smooth. It has a really nice feel, will have to see how it performs.

Looks like a Thurigan to me.

The Coticule looks beautiful! So does the Thuringian! Congrats on having some excellent stones.
