Made a quick stop by the antiques market early Saturday and finally found a railroad anvil that I could afford, which means not very much. I rarely see them and when I do guys seem to price them like they are made of gold. Going to take a little work to get this one polished on top. Can't wait to pin some razors on this puppy!

Nice un, takes about 4-6 hrs with power tools to get one done and polished......I think [emoji56]

Wow, Garrison-How many DMT's did that eat up? But seriously, what did you use, a belt-sander or similar? That looks slicker than a greased bowling ball!

Thanks, yeah I used a belt sander until the pits were gone. It ate up a few belts, then I did some hand sanding dry and with wd40 up to 2000 until the scratches were out, then a drill with a buffing wheel and some compound, then hand rubbing with Mother's. Originally Posted by ScoutHikerDad

After polishing that anvil up to that state, the only use it will see is a display stand for your finished razors in photo shoots.
A hammer won't be allowed within 20 feet of it.
