Nice one, engine! That's just about what mine looked like too, with busted scales. I love the way these shave, it's a wonder why they didn't stay popular for a longer period of time, way back when? I'm always keeping an eye out for these now.

When you have one broken on the wedge end like that, you can fix the scale the best you can & also CA the repaired scale to the wedge which will give it support. I did that on a few now & it works good. If you ever had to unpin it, you just use a razor blade to separate the scale from the wedge but hopefully that shouldn't happen.

This is mine as I found it, looks like nearly the same exact break as yours there.

That scale can be fixed.

I'm with you! I have about a dozen or so of these razors and I just get the greatest shaves from these tapered blade profile razors. I think they were more popular than we know however, as I have examples from numerous manufacturers including W&B and Elliott. As soon as i get a chance I'll post a bunch of pics of the ones that I have.

You guys have to stop looking for these tapered blade razors. The Surgeon Generals office let out a little known report that shaving with tapered blade razors can cause heart disease, diabetes, mood swings, depression, deplete your bank account .............. take my advice ......... stay away from them !
That way maybe I can finally get one of the darned things !Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Jimmy, there are people who are hip to them like us. Most people pass them by thinking they are worn out but the ones bidding on them know what they are. I have lost out on some & I think xiaotuzi might have outbid me on the one he has but that's okay as long as someone on here got it. If I see one & I don't have the funds, I'll give ya a heads up.

This is the only one I have but it didn't come from online. I actually found it in the lakes region of New Hampshire over the summer. A gentleman I know there goes to a lot of estate sales and it was wrapped in a newspaper from 1933 along with a coticule and a thurigan (that may have had a label on it at one time). It was quite a find for sure, like a time capsule! Posted a thread about it a while back...

LOL! OK Jimmy...I'll promise not to 'Bid' on any that I see and instead give you a heads up when they pop up on the Bay. Truth be told though is that the ones that I have have been in my 'to do' box for quite awhile.
Here's a couple of shots of the R. Hibberd I just finished restoring...not pinned yet so don't hold that against me. I finished it with the original glazed type finish and restored with vintage original scales. The pics aren't great. It is a lot more tapered looking than what appears in the pics and it has the typical narrowed to the toe 'quill type spine'.
