    • You've been a member for 95+% of the sites existence.
    • The average member has posted approx 53* posts... you're 258% above that with (currently) 137.
So while you may not think of yourself as a "Senior Member", at least based on a couple metrics, you're certainly well above average...

Not to throw fuel on a dying fire, but after reading the whole thread, I still have to agree with the original poster. I also agree with some things you're saying, joe, such as the fact that you can just search the forums and do some reading, but as someone who is still transitioning from the grub of newbiehood into the butterfly of forum troll, I have to say I was confused by the honemesiter rank when I first got here. It seems to me that with 7 pages going and noone screaming "don't touch my beloved honemestier rank!" that it's safe to assume that not many would cry if it was changed to something like the afore-suggested "SRP Fanatic." Or perhaps "Whisker Master" or "Hair Nightmare," or something similar implying a higher level of skill as far as the shaving part of the razor skill goes.

As you pointed out, anyone who was truly traumatized by the loss of the honemeister rank could make a group to get the honemeister title. This would definitely help newbies discern a little better between someone with a lot of posts, and someone with a lot of sharpening skills.

My final point is this: every forum I have ever been active on has had, in its FAQ, the recommendation that new users use the search function to look for already-posted information. Every forum I have ever been active on has ALSO had many, many new folks that didn't read the FAQ or were lazy or just bad at searching that repost or just look on the first page of the forum for the answers (and I am guilty of this at times, too). If the honemeister thing were a little more clear, it's just one feature of an already-great site that would be more newbie-friendly.

I'll be the first to admit that I am not a honemeister. And if anyone, because of the designation contacted me for ANY information, I would assist if possible, but I also know the individuals to point the towards on anything I am not comfortable giving advice on. And I think the majority here would do the same.

I'm a complete newb as I have only been lurking/posting on this site for a week now. While I may not know the name of every honemeister, I know the name of a few. I have to admit though, I didn't realize that the honemeister rank was tied to post count. In fact, I remember thinking a few times, why does this guy say he can't hone very well when it says he is a honemeister. That being said, I would know who to PM or at least who to ask if I really needed a razor honed.

Why don't we just vote on this rather than debating it forever?
