I have Trumpers sandalwood and the lather dries out before i even start to shave.
I thought since im used to creams mostly maybe soap is just not my thing.
Luckily i found this thread and i will be trying out some of the other brands of soap mentioned here.
Tastes change New stuff comes along. You make new discoveries. Most of what I liked back then do not reflect my current opinions, except to XPec and Penhalligons. Back then I was still using DR Harris and MDC. Its been a long time since I've used either of them.

Just to add my similar experience to the thread, I bought two wooden bowls of Trumper (Lime and Rose) about 18 months ago. I struggled and struggled to conjure a great lather. What I ended up with on my best day was a barely acceptable lather that I was able to shave with, but so disappointing. So, both pucks went in the shower (they were great as bath bars)and I peeled the labels off the bowls to use them for test-driving soap samples.

I really like Trumper's Coconut cream. It's not MDC, or even Castle Forbes; not even close.
