I have the Coconut oil shaving cream and the Spanish leather from GFT witch is way better in both performance and scent.

    Gentlemen,
You reminded me of something I had forgotten about Trumper products. In all fairness to Trumper, I must agree with you on the Spanish Leather aftershave. That is delightful. Pure pleasure. I have used it for years — in addition to Truefitti & Hill's version, which is quite different — and will probably continue to do so. The Coral Skin Food is on its out after I finish the bottle. It's good stuff, although I don't feel worth the money. And you are right about the Spanish Leather cream. The scent on it, too, is exquisite, although the cream nothing spectacular. I just hope some genius with the company does not screw up Spanish Leather aftershave. That will really be the end of the world.

Each lathering between my usual three passes probably took three minutes. Too much of a good thing? Oh, yes, and delicious. You don't float into Paradise without silky wings, you know?
Isn't it something how all of these discussions about soaps always come back to MDC? When you're good, you're good. For anyone else reading this, try Xpec too. Wonderful stuff. My top three performing soaps/creams are MDC, Xpec, and Penhaligons. All rather pricey but all top notch.

Right you are about Martin de Candre, OCD. It is amazing that with only seven ingredients you can have such a celestial shave soap. The sign of a good soap, among other things we have discussed in these threads, is how it leaves the face after the shave. After using the soap this morning, I am ready for Hollywood.

As for Xpec, oh, yes, I agree with you completely. I have Xpec and consider it the best cream among those I have used through the years. I never got to try the now discontinued Caraceni, so I cannot comment on it, although I am told that, too, was celestial.

I have used Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet shave cream. I love the scent, although I prefer other creams.

If I were to list my three preferred creams, they would be Xpec, Santa Maria Novella and Castle Forbes. My three top soaps would be Martin de Candre, Czech & Speake and Le Pere Lucien.

Sorry for changing the subject, gentlemen.

I'm joining Obie and the rest on the disappointment of Trumper's soap. The very first time I used it the lather was great but after a dozen of so subsequent sessions I have not gotten a rich or slick lather. It is time to discard this product. Our English Optometrist warned me about the new formula and not to expect a good shave. He was correct. Live and learn.

Well, to each their own, maybe I should keep to myself that I don't think Axe is that awful when it's applied sparsely.

You guys are killing me here. Trumpers has always been one of my go to soaps. The puck I'm using now is probably 3-4 years old and works great. About a year ago I bought a puck of violet and haven't touched it yet. Should I just bury it in the back yard? I know, I'll give it to the Husky. She's very discerning and will only eat the finest soaps.

Of course sending them a complaint along with a link to this thread may have more of an impact.

I've had zero success with a couple of different pucks of Trumpers and not for lack of serious trying. I thought it was me so I'm glad to hear that I'm not alone. I didn't take the first puck into the shower, in frustration I threw it in the trash. I had a couple more pucks that I had bought from a member, refills for the wooden bowl. Old formula. Tried one and it wasn't much better than the one I trashed. Maybe I'll give that second puck another go just for the heck of it. Still have the third to try too, if I get desperate.
