I like the SRD glycerin soaps - sandalwood is one of my go to soaps. I go for that soap just as much as tabac. That says a lot because I have over 20+ soaps and creams in my arsenal.

Good to hear. Especially regarding the bay rum. I had another bay rum soap that was terrible. It didn't lather well and what lather it produced fell apart in minutes. I'd like to have a decent bay rum soap. I may have to go in for that sampler as well to get acquainted with the scents.

Thanked: 60For me if it was going to be one soap it would be Arko. Great lather and a fresh smell. Oh and did I mention cheap? one of the best out there for me.
Buy it in 10 or 12 sticks for the best deals. Can be used as a stick direct to face, or pushed into a bowl / mug. Versatile as well.
I also love that my bathroom always smells fresh if I leave it out on the counter after use. It's not overly powerful but noticeable as you walk by….great!!! and the wife likes it too.
I also love Proraso and Tabac but not for everyday use.
Oh did I say I love Arko?

Thanked: 3226Right up there with Arko for a good yet inexpensive soap, not cream, would be Palmolive shave stick, LEA shave stick and Speick shave stick all of which are tallow based. A step up in price but good would be DR Harris soap puck and the new Valobra soap pucks also tallow based I believe.
If you add creams to the list then Maca Root from The Body Shop is good at a decent price. Another that is good and cheap is Wilkinsons in the blue tub. It is more like a croap and is glycerine based I believe.

Thanked: 20Arko is by far the cheapest but don't let that fool you...great soap and the scent is a love it or leave it type of smell, but for me rinses right off. It lathers easy, and is slick stuf. Cella is also a great soap and is not that expensive. also you might want to try a stick of Palmolive. Thats another underrated soap. and for the money conscious Van Der Hagan, is very available and pretty cheep and I think works very well with a nice scent. I own some of the more expensive soaps and to tell the truth I rarely use them, so you don't have to spend a ton to get a decent or great soap. Others will be a long behind me with other soaps ans they may have more experience but for me, I know I can find a good soap for me under 10 bucks
