The Arko surprise
Ok so I have been a skeptic of how great everyone has said arko is. Ive tried the other soaps of a similar price points (ie. Williams and VDH) and even though I was able to get them to lather reasonably wasnt really impressed.
So now to my little story.
A new shaving store opened up about 30 minutes from where i live . Its called Old Town Shaving Company. I was so happy that something other than art of shaving was around. So I went with SWMBO and picked up a few items. For soaps and an after shave. One soap which was Arko. I was really happy with all the stuff I bought.
Now back to the point of my story. I tried out Arko today and was pretty damn surprised. It was super easy to lather, slick, and i really enjoyed the lemon pledge like smell. For 2 bucks and some change I can't see any other product ot performing this.
So I just wanted to share my experience with you guys. Really learned to not doubt things ive read on here. Good day all!-David

Thanked: 3225Don't blame you for doubting how good a soap can be if it is only a couple of bucks. I don't know of anything that can touch it in it's price range for performance and it will hold it's own against some more expensive soaps too. Glad you had a good experience with it.

Arko? Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
I just bought a 10 year supply for, d'uh, $15. Its horrorshow good. Only bad thing is that creepy guy on the label with the beckoning bedroom eyes."We'll talk, if you like. I'll tell you right out, I am a man who likes talking to a man who likes to talk."

Now compare it to more expensive soaps. You compared it to Williams and VDH. I think you'll find it stand up to those as well.

+1...Arko is a great soap...regardless of cost! I use it regularly. Makes a GREAT 'Uber-Lather' and does super job with a face lather as well. Funny how everyone's 'smeller' (Nose) is different..it smells like old fashioned Ivory Soap to me, which I actually don't mind at all.
I give it aLupus Cohors - Appellant Mors !

We're in the midst of moving to a new house at the moment, mainly just getting all packed and praying to ye olde gods of mortgage banking to finally get the closing date set (our lease technically ended on 05/31, but our landlord is a nice guy).
Out of all my shaving gear, I kept a very limited amount of items unpacked. Two razors (a Geneva Cutlery Pyramid and a Kissing Cranes), my SRD Black Latigo strop, one brush (VDH Boar), one bottle of aftershave (Master's Bay Rum), my alum block and styptic pencil and also one of my Genco barber's hones.
The only soap I kept out was a stick of Arko, which I've put into a twist tube I ordered from Amazon and glued the Arko wrapper to.
So far, I'm about 7 shaves in since packing everything up and I have no regrets that I kept good equipment out. The Arko has done well, as always, and even though I typically jump from soap to soap, I've been perfectly happy to keep coming back to my stick of Arko."Willpower and Dedication are good words," Roland remarked, "There's a bad one, though, that means the same thing. That one is Obsession." -Roland Deschain of Gilead

I haven't tried the much-loved Arko shavestick yet, though it's on my list to try (rotating about 2 dozen soaps and creams right now, so maybe it's time to slow down on the shaving software?). For those who haven't tried their creams, Arko Commando is a favorite, and Arko Cool is pretty nice too.
