Upon opening I get a delicate fougere, woody, herbal with some citrus. Even with my big nose its quite a subtle fragrance, I have however got a bit of a cold. Using an almond size amount and my Manchurian Duke 3 I quickly whipped up a thick, dense face lather. Like the originals I find it can take a good amount of water and would be hard to make a thin, watery lather. As always with Castle Forbes the shave is impeccable, robust, slick and a good amount of cushion. The only downside for me is the post shave, it left my face slightly pinched but then so does Xpec, I do have a strong beard but girly like sensitive skin, nothing that a dollop of my usual Roship, Argon or Avocado oil wont sort out.

    First tier for sure
Just had my first shave with the 1445.....wow.

Castle Forbes - that's pretty much all you need to say, and absolutely Tier 1.

The CF Lavender is my favourite of the family, until this came along, this is like the Lavender but with a whole bucket load of fun and beautiful scents added - outstanding.

Lather is incredible, straight forward load and BOOM! Lather bomb of silky, creamy, absolutely gorgeous smelling soap that is only Castle Forbes.

For me, I like this soap so much, that I will be ordering the aftershave or cologne, only one other time I've done this, and that was when I bought a soap because I already had the aftershave, when Outback pointed me in the direction of a great Givenchy soap.

You just can't mess with Castle Forbes, really does belong, like MdC, in a whole other stratosphere....thanks Mark.

Phrank, How would you describe the scent? I've read CF's description but would like to hear what real people say.

    It's described as:

"Expect notes of ferns and grasses supported on a base of lavender, tarragon, lemon and bitter orange, it smells utterly amazing."

It's all these, and what I like about it is I had to go look that up, as each of those scents has a solid presence, but not necessarily individually, none stand out and shout at you, these have been ingredients that have been perfectly blended together to form something greater than their individual parts. Can't really describe it other than all those ingredients come together and hit you with something completely unique, CF has outdone themselves, by far their best in my opinion - complex, robust and wide bouquet, coupled with tried and true Castle Forbes instant whipped cream lather....

To me its definitely an aromatic fougere. It has a fern base with the tarragon providing the aromatic anise notes and a hint of citrus in there. Complex but with a simple elegance.

I can't seem to find the 1445 for sale anywhere I've searched.
I love CF and this one sounds like one to add to the collection

I just looked on eBay myself. Our precious CF 1445 shave cream must be on a container ship somewhere on the Atlantic Ocean right about now.

I just load my brush in the soap container, and then whip my lather up in the scuttle.
