I used to think TC was pulling my leg about when he said he would do 3 swirls to load his brush with MDC. I've found that with about 5 or 6 swirls I got enough on my brush for a full shave. Most other soaps take a lot more to have enough for a full shave. The stuff is going to last you (and me) forever my friend! I got the fougere and the original. Its a matter of learning how wet to have your brush.
I probably did about 10 swirls and could have done a ten pass shave.

I can say for sure that 3 swirls with MdC won't do for a 4 pass shave.

I must have been thinking about you all who received MdC for Christmas. After being on a WK kick I shaved with MdC this morning, what a treat my friends!
    Enjoy!

It take me a couple more than 3 to get three passes Bob. Still figuring out how wet to have the brush. Should ha e it down in the next week. The scent on the MDC is not strong enough for me but the quality of the soap makes up for it.

Been using W.K. and Oleo a lot lately but MDC is just more of a traditional acting soap. Not so creamy but plenty slick.

I have, but have not yet tried, the Baume.be shave cream. I tried the aftershave balm today. Very nice! Very pleasant scent! Maybe a bit heavy, but good for cold, dry weather.
Have been using Penhaligon's Endymion shave cream for the past few days and it is very luxurious! Fantastic scent to my nose! The matching Endymion scented aftershave balm may be the best I've ever tried. Seems to turn a CCS into a DFS or a DFS into a near BBS!

Baum.be is a good cream. As far as creams go, id say its top notch. But im more of a puke soap guy. Really enjoying the MDC i got. Even the after shave feel of my face is nice. And after three shaves now, i cant tell ive even used any out of the jar. I needed a little more soap on last nights shave and one swirl on the soap gave me more than enough for another pass. One of my best shaves last night. Sure am liking this stuff even with the cost of it as i think its going to last a long time.

When you use these soaps/creams do you usually pair them with the same brand/scent aftershave?

I used my MdC for the second time this morning. I never imagined it could be so easy to make copious amounts of perfect lather. It's absolutely amazing stuff!

I know that this is a “first tier” thread but I have to share this. Today I started off the new year with a punishing and horrible shave. It reminds me of my very first and awkward straight razor shave. A really lousy shave, lots of bleeding nicks, and a ton of irritation. All of this was thanks to a new shave cream given to me at Christmas - Baxter of California. This was the lowest tier of shave cream I’ve yet to experience. It was like shaving with ground chalk and water. It does not lather, it is not slick, it has no glide. The razor actually grips the skin. I would have been better off using toothpaste. I felt the need to apologize to the razor but I’m sure it could see I had been through enough. I received two tubs of it and they currently occupy the bottom of the trash with the mornings coffe grounds.
